    Dungeons & Dragons (2022)

Yes, GoT/HotD. But then you run the risk of being perceived as “Great Value” GoT. Although another reason: They want to sell D&D stuff. If you make D&D look fun, then you sell more D&D stuff. The market is flush with TRRPG stuff, so it is a good way to differentiate to normies. And for...

    Dungeons & Dragons (2022)

You’re not going to get that movie funded, though. Fantasy IP on this type of scale are expensive and the Rings of Power lukewarm reception has somewhat poisoned the well for now D&D in the current mainstream mindset is going to be associated with stuff like Critical Roll, or Stranger Things...

2023 Academy Awards. No Baldies allowed!

Same reason Avatar was nominated. A number of years back they made the decision to start nominating more "blockbuster" films seen by a wide audience to the best picture category...mostly as a tactic to try to draw viewers to the show, since numbers had been declining for years.

Quasi believable premise will always be scarier than total fantasy. Super rabies or mutated fungus could be plausible zombie scenarios vs dead bodies just magically walking around

    The Astronomy Thread

The NASA/DARPA project is the nuclear propulsion thing, isn’t it? Granted we do need faster ways of getting to the other planets and moons in the system, so we really need to start doing things like this vs just relying upon slingshots or launch momentum.

    The Last of Us

The preview for episode 3 mentions raiders. We also know from the @coming this season” shit they still contend with raiders. The change at the end of episode 2 is fine, because it better highlights the limited reach of FEDRA and let’s them show off the enhanced infected tech of using the...

2023 Academy Awards. No Baldies allowed!

Taking out Avatar and Maverick, All Quiet is probably the only film on that list that would have been seen by a wide audience and actually is a decent candidate for best pic.

Depends on how heavily the biology was modified I suppose - fungus can move nutrients and the like, but it still has to integrate with the nervous system to get things done in the host. At the end of the day, the fungus is just using people as a mechanism to spread itself and as less hosts...

Not really. Like Blitz posted, treat it more like a GTA. There is some semi-open ended stuff you can do, but eventually you exhaust all the side quests and objectives.

    Starfield - Fallout fallout that isn't ES6

Fallout 76 has improved a lot since launch. One thing you can give them credit for is sticking with the game vs. just abandoning it. Content does come out fairly slow, but it comes out. Most recent major patch added some mini-traveling Nuka World with a bunch of rides and quests.

Charging for mods just lets them monetize console plebs. They’ve never really banned mods outside of Fallout76, but that is because it is an online only game

    Cyberpunk 2077

Agree. It also seems like the new DLC is mostly going to be a story running lateral to the main game vs an epilogue. When they talked about the new Cyberpunk game they are working on, they mentioned V's story is done, so I suspect they'll just keep the "u ded" vibe going vs. providing any...

2027? Damn. They weren't kidding when they said they wanted to focus on the shows for now. Although maybe it is for the best. That makes it 10 years since The Last Jedi. Over a decade for the foul flavor of the new trilogy to be washed away by stuff like Mando or Andor

I think it is probably very likely Tom decides to walk away from the Buccs, although whether or not he signs with another team I think will rely a lot on what the situation ends up being with his kids. I mean, will he really want to move to Las Vegas for example? He also apparently has some...

This is a good observation of part of the flaw with their design philosophy. They’re fairly quick to abandon features rather than try to refine them, although that goes hand in hand with the relatively “stand alone” nature of each xpac.

Zenos had a custom model as well. Nomura had a hand in the Gaia design, so he probably decided he liked Kristin Ritter in a goth dress, that wasn't a readily available option, and they just made a custom NPC lol

The more likely explanation as to why most people we meet in the shows/movies knows what a Jedi is: They don't want to rehash exposition every single time they run into a random person.

Final Fantasy XIV (Guide in first post)

Part of the issue is Gaia was a custom model, not a player model, so that limited their ability to easily port it compared to something like Y'shtola. So the new costume literally just replaces your character's entire body with a preset for your race that was probably just a modified Gaia...

It really only has a notable impact on wars (and maybe OPR). If you have a better idea where enemy healing is centered, then it is easier to do area denial in those areas. You can also better prepare if you know an AOE is enemy vs friendly and use that to change player behaviors. For example...
