Wildstar Launch Thread - Server: Stormtalon | Faction: Dominion

Well, if you compare GW2 to every MMO... it's well above average.

Wildstar Launch Thread - Server: Stormtalon | Faction: Dominion

GW2 has it as well. Unless I decide to recycle, every drop I get gets sold there. EDIT: Mentioned above. Don't open your reply before meeting and hit send after lunch.

    World of Warcraft: Current Year

It's the parts that are "meh". The levelling part is relatively well done, but, except for three dungeons (the Wall, the Brewery and the Shado-Pan monastery) where the story ends a bit abruptly if you don't do the dungeon (i.e. do multiplayer) afterward, it is entirely a single player affair...

Star Citizen Online - The search for more money

It depends on "starts". Right now, you have access to the Hangar module, where every of the ships you purchased is visible, can be entered, checked, etc. The dogfight module for space combat was supposed to be released by the end of the month but may have "slight delays".

I work on a daily basis with the network guys (I'm the CISO). I do have the routers and FW config, I even wrote the rules for the latter. Believe me, I know the network setup around, and I do meet with our upstream ISP guys on a quarterly basis for cooperation on various projects. Oh, and I...

    Entropy on Steam.

Except with Kickstarter, you usually get to wait until they have a game to play it. But to open a Steam Early Shit, the dev HAVE to provide a pile of manure to get your money.

Eh. It took how long for Blizzard to finally have a movie really scheduled?

    Entropy on Steam.

That's the current problem with Steam. The quality control is zero, and pre-release is a trap destined to lure you into buying games that are even more unfinished the standard release today. Never, ever, buy a pre-release on Steam.

    World of Warcraft: Current Year

It's a decent single-player RPG. At the current discounted price, and if you can squeeze it into one sub period, it's worth the price. Once you hit max, the "meh" parts kick in, and you can unsub and go away.

    World of Warcraft: Current Year

Because, as meh as it is, there's little better anywhere else.

Dunno for you. Me, I never get HD ads at work. Ever. It's always 320p pixelated shit. Anyway, remember that streaming accounts for 53% of ALL internet traffic, with Youtube representing about 19% on its own. That means that at least 20% of all bandwidth your ISP for all its customers uses...

    The Division

As I said: what's important is less your connection than the connection your ISP has with whatever network it uses to reach the nearest Youtube datacenter. If that connection is overloaded, it doesn't matter how big yours is.
  14. Ukerric

    The Division

That will depend on your provider. Some ISP have good connectivity with some networks, some have shit. It doesn't matter what YOUR connectivity to YOUR ISP is, it matters what the ISP has. In the old days (read 1999), data flowed where it could and where there was capacity. That's no longer...

    EQN:Landmark Beta Starts March 26th!

Or maybe they do. How am I to make the perfect underground dungeon if it slowly refills? I think the stated intent is that anything in your plot of land can only be dug/harvested/built up by you (or anyone you gave permission to), and never heals unless you pass the healing brush (which...

All the fun in Minecraft is working with the limited elements you have to make stuff. And the result is far more impressive because people figure out how you solved that problem.

    EQN:Landmark Beta Starts March 26th!

Apparently not (as far as we know), but each area has specific resources. It might be that resources are more or less evenly spread all over a biome, even the rare ones, but with different biomes having different rarer resources, in which case it doesn't matter, resource-wise, where you place...

Raid size are good if you want difficult raids (because you can design tightly tuned stuff), but devastating for social stuff. A fixed raid size means your game is a gamer's game, not a social game. Funnily enough, I think MMO should be primarily social.

    EQN:Landmark Beta Starts March 26th!

The Landmarks are supposed to be the trade hubs (i.e. the local place where you can put trade offers I presume), so proximity to them is a good factor. In addition, ressources are unevenly distributed, so certain plots may have that rare special tier 5 diamond marble thing that every palace...

    World of Warcraft: Current Year

Levelling is a single-player game, it's no wonder having more people is useless. Except to fill the chat channels of the Barrens.

That's what they do. But, curiously, people still want to connect to a lot non-v6 services, and thus, use a v4 address (with v6tov4 you can "connect" to a v4 service even if you have only ipv6. Guess what: you have a gigantic NAT at the v6 to v4 gateway).
  25. Ukerric

    EQ Never

Not a good idea. As the costs of getting an IP(v4) address rises for providers, they're going to start doing mass NAT; i.e. you're going to find yourself sharing your "public" IP address with an ever-growing number of households. Assuming that "one IP = one household" is going to go the way of...

It's not about saving bandwidth. It's about playing the correct game. If I can log on, play, never ever talk to a single human being, and get to the last ounce of content, then what is the point of making that game a multiplayer game? Make it a single player game, add a multiplayer lobby...

And we all know why this happened. This happened because you needed a tank, a heal, a slower and preferably a mana regen (but could do without). Until you had those three (first two only in the early levels), your group couldn't do anything. The solution is now known: everyone can be DPS and...

    Why did Rift fail?

To be honest, any system in which you have class customization (a "talent tree" or anything similar) with all talents being available from fungible points is going to be minmaxed. The only thing that you can do to reduce minmaxing is to make your talents (or whatever) be obtainable in...

    Pan'Theon: Rise' of th'e Fal'Len - #1 Thread in MMO

The essence of the problem is that mistakes are what you remember. If you take Magic the Gathering, everyone agrees that Black Lotus, the Moxen, or even the dual Lands were errors that shouldn't have existed. Yet, they're what makes MtG a legend, even among the people who don't play it much. I...

At the moment, it appears to be the "housing instance" of EQNext's servers. Your chars can switch between EQNext world and your own plot's nearest Landmark. Game. You need to harvest the resources for your buildings, there's presumably some kind of fauna, and the Landmarks are supposed to serve...
