YoshiP is also an old school MMO player. UO, EQ1, DAOC. He name drops those quite a bit. Plus he played WoW early and I presume he keeps up with their developments even if he doesn’t actually play WoW anymore.

The grind involved also matters. Shit that takes weeks or months to get ingame, but you can buy the same thing for RL cash and offers a significant advantage is bullshit. Bethesda does this with FO76 to a degree. Limits your storage space, but if you subscribe to FO1st, you can get unlimited...

Yes, they will. But if a game day 1 offers a “2x xp potion!” For money, then that is p2w. It isn’t a catch up mechanic, it’s a straight up “use this if you want to be first to higher level content uncontested” itemization

Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (1984)

Shortround was cool, plus he was Data in Goonies. I remember during recess we would play Goonies and everyone would want to be Data because he got all the cool gadgets. No one wanted to be Chunk lol

There really isn’t anything an 8 person mount gives you advantage wise. Maybe makes it easier hauling noobs around Eureka, which is old content 2 expansions ago. Everything on their store for sale boost wise is just catchup. Bliz has done the same. Basically it boosts you to the highest...

I couldn't stay up to watch it, so I watched the saved Primals concert. Was great, but I was surprised to learn at the end that Soken had cancer and was currently in remission. Yoshi P got really emotional :( They had kept it secret from most of the team. He actually wrote the final boss...

There are a few knuckle duster looking weapons. These crafted ones are purple lightning knuckle dusters basically. There are others as well, but I can't recall the specific item. https://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodestone/playguide/db/recipe/f5e8fd359e6/

Honestly I think that because this ends the Zodiark and Hyd storyline, something happens to the WoL since we are technically an Ascian. Maybe we "die" and there is a time skip and we get restored later. Scions have gone their separate ways in the meantime.

I'm not as bothered by quirky cosmetics. WoW always confused the fuck out of me with how inconsistent they were. Like they never let you use holiday shit for transmog. The Valentines Day cosmetic which is a plague mask + a plague backpack was fucking awesome. Perfect for a forsaken or...

EQ1 used slow leveling to hide incomplete content as well. Think about how many times people killed something that had cloth cap loot pools or even incompl He played AA, he should 100% know what p2w looks like. Their entire crafting and gearing system basically revolves around store bought...

Reaper has a feature where they become an avatar for a void creature, so I assume that will be their resource meter ability. Otherwise just melee attacks. They didn’t dive too deep and they also didn’t preview other new class abilities, so I assume that is all still being worked on

    World of Warcraft: Current Year

I do agree on PVP. It is pretty shitty in FF14, which is part of the reason it is dead. Only time you see people doing it is when there is some event that you can get currency from, like the last moogle tome event.

Ya, XP potions and the like is Korean/Chinese MMO cash grab gatcha game shit. I know MMOs have level boosts, but they tend to be later in the game's life cycle and serve mostly as catch-up mechanics. Offering the same stuff on day 1 would basically make people suspect XP gains are...

Observations I made: 1) Zenos' tower has the Tower of Zot music from FF4 2) There was one scene where they showed a dungeon that had 4 seasons/biomes...the floating crystal things looked like the ones from the Ascian city ruins dungeon (Amythis Ryder or whatever...the one where Bismark gives...

FFXIV combat does change a lot as you level. How a class plays at 30 vs 70 can be completely different, both in terms of abilities, gcd weaving, and resource management

Walter in the show is pretty sympathetic until the final scene, at which point that if you realize if he is ok with doing that, then he would be ok with doing all sorts of reprehensible shit

    Castlevania

Good finale. The final final scene wasn't expected at all. But they left the show in a good spot to allow for the spin-offs they mentioned. Presumably they will leap forward in time and focus on other Belmonts.

The show does address it. George fallout was supposedly over the code, the brother thinks the code is shit, all the kids think it is shit and ones who don’t die. Not all BF3 private servers handled hackers well. I remember joining one and the admin threatened to ban people complaining about non existent hackers, as a dude on the enemy team killed us in spawn with a machine gun from across the map and through 30 buildings. He was either in on it, or a...

Right, the Boy Scout code is supposed to feel frustrating. It’s clear there is, and have been, massive divisions about it in the past. Like when the brother mentions they could have ended WW2 in minutes and saved millions of lives from death camps, then Utopia is so afraid of slippery slope...

I do like how FFXIV does that. As you progress through the game, it teaches you what all the symbols mean. It starts basic with simple concepts like spread apart, stack up. Then it goes to other more complex types.

    Ashes of Creation

Twitch MMOs would be more in the vein of something like BDO or TERA - action combat that requires far too many hot key presses and is virtually impossible to be a "clicker" in it. I never liked BDO much because combat felt like you had to be constantly moving and activating 20+ hotkeys at the...

Right, it always gets back to the "everyone wants to be the wolf, not the sheep". Once most of the playerbase realizes they will always be the sheep, they will stop playing.
