Ya, he was playing stuff like UO and Everquest back in the day. He still tries to play new games (MMOs or not) when he can so he can keep a constant pulse on current gaming trends. I think most recently he was playing Elden Ring, which probably influenced some FF16 design decisions.

If the concerns about their handling of the Gorn, I suspect they can always end up revealing that the Gorn in SNW aren't the same Gorn as in TOS. I did laugh that SNW basically revamped the Klingons to be more like what people are used to, though. There are some Disco Klingon influences, but...

Ya, the script, lip sync, and VA are all originally English. Technically everything else is a dub They do something similar for FF14. They make 2 scripts: Japanese and English. All non-Japanese and English versions of the game technically use the Japanese script for translation. English...

Technically Pluto has an atmosphere, but it is insanely thin and periodically freezes and falls to the surface. To get an actual Earth-like atmosphere on something the size of the moon would take far too many resources (even if you could access all the water trapped on the moon, it wouldn't be...

You can get some solid last-gen video cards now for a reasonable price now that the cryptomining GPU bubble is more or less done. The AMD cards still can't handle raytracing all that well, but there is a pretty solid by all accounts Intel ARC video card that handles RT for like $240 or less...

Feels like they are making the Mixer mistake when they paid Shroud and Ninja big bucks - they focused on individual big names rather than trying to sign a bunch of people in a specific group or niche. Ideally you want people to tune in to one person, then go to another person when that person...

Paladin was a fun healer type class, but the stuff you had to slot in order to actually heal was a big barrier of entry. Those catch-up events helped, but it was always dumb how you needed events to realistically do that. It would be like if I rolled a priest in WoW and had to get rare drops...

The paid mods/creation club are more for the console plebs that can't use things like Nexus. The only game they haven't allowed mods in really is Fallout76 and that is because it is online only /w PVP as an option and there are no private servers.

There realistically is only 2 uses for it in the game 1) A NPC is referring to you in the third person and not by name or some other label (like pirate, asshole, spy, etc). Such as "We found him in the cargo bay" "We found her in the cargo bay" "We found them in the cargo bay" 2) A NPC is...

It also is used when the gender is irrelevant or doesn't even need to be mentioned "What happened to them?" "They tripped on a rock" You are aware that usage of the word in that setting existed long before it became some culture war bullshit, right? You've probably used it yourself in that...

Literally nothing changes in romance options in games if they let you do pair ups with same sex. It’s not like your character gets fucking pregnant. Besides, let’s be honest, most of that probably comes from guys playing female characters and wanting to romance other female characters. Look...

Lost Ark has way too many insta wipe mechanics. Or they did, idk about now. The game was frequently very poor in telling you what you did wrong or what caused the wipe. Couple that with one mistake = everyone dies and it becomes extremely frustrating

    The Boys

Honestly I think what will end up happening is Ryan will end up like a mini Homelander and Homelander will accidentally kill him when Ryan starts going apeshit. Either this or the government tries to kill Homelander and accidentally kills Ryan. This will make Homelander go 100% unhinged and...

    Star Trek: Strange New Worlds

The difference is Star Wars isn’t billed as “this is Earth in the future”. Same reason Trek has had to retcon all the lore from TOS that conflicts with our experienced past. 1990s were a long way away in the 60s and now they’re 30ish years in the past. So when TOS is like “In the 90s we...

You can't really escape the modern look, though. It's supposed to be the future - you can try to pay homage to the 1960s low budget version of that, but ultimately you have to make it look future-ish in terms of how modern audiences would consider something to look futuristic

I do understand why they stuck with it: Super modable, the in-house devs are familiar with it, and they own the code FO76 at least evidenced how you can do a really large outdoor setting in the engine after they tweaked it. Since this is single player and you don’t need to worry about...

You would think, but there are plenty of times it can be hard to see a motorcycle. They have a smaller profile, so the blind spot in cars is effectively larger (especially if you aren’t doing a head turn in addition to checking mirrors). I also don’t know how fast the dude on the motorcycle...

I haven’t played empyrean in years, but it was cool. Home brewing a ship can be tough at first, but community on steam has lots of prefabs you can add to the game. I’d recommend getting a no frills ship and reverse engineer it to figure out how they made it

I presume it is like Fallout4. The build limit in FO4 was based on polygons/complexity, but you could fool the game by dropping weapons and then storing them in the storage chest, which made the game think you removed a structure and boosted the build limit. The FO4 pic I posted a few pages...

    Starfield - Fallout fallout that isn't ES6

Starfield is running on Creation Engine. Fallout 76 was actually a bit of a test bed in terms of making really expansive outdoor areas in the engine and they had made some tweaks to the core engine to accomplish that, so I suspect Starfield pushes that even further.

I do have some realistic predictions, though 1) Planets will have the NMS effect: there will be slight variations, but after a bit you’ll notice a lot of sameness. I suspect you’ll have like maybe 10-12 biome types. Alien combos will be mix and match. PoI will pull from a pool, with some...
