    Pan'Theon: Rise' of th'e Fal'Len - #1 Thread in MMO

You actually can! You just have to think outside the box, and toss away old ideas like static content and scripted events. That has trade-offs too though - generated / randomized content is rarely as memorable or as high quality. And depending on how it's generated, while it won't be...

Vanguard - I don't give a fuck if it's dead, It's still brown as fuck (Download link in 1st post)

Because anytime VG gets more than 100 players all the old bugs crop back up (chunks crashing, chunking taking forever, etc) and runs everyone off again.

    Pan'Theon: Rise' of th'e Fal'Len - #1 Thread in MMO

All comes back around to - EQ was designed more as a world, than as a game. Things like varying difficulty in the same zone, long travel times, etc makes for a great world, not so great a game. Many people just want to see a world again.

I probably won't sub. I didn't play at all Sunday, usually a bad sign for a MMO and me. At this point my options are all just CM / AK grinds for gear, and finish pushing through Hydra then HMs for my relic weapon. Which I'd like to do, but not for subbing another month. I could also grind up...

Pretty sure I don't remember any with perfect AI, giving an excuse to have it as a playable race, which was the point of the joke :P. I don't think random clockworks count.

I don't know what you mean by "good". That's too personal and ambiguous. And any game I suggest, I assure you it has big flaws, but it WILL have many aspects of things people say "no game has" (when they really mean "no big title made for the masses has"). Here's a list I posted in another...

Your "everything" list only includes big name popular titles from AAA studios (unless that was the joke you were making and I missed it, heh). And you're right - they're all pretty fucking easy. If you can press a button, you have zero chance of dying.

    Pan'Theon: Rise' of th'e Fal'Len - #1 Thread in MMO

Because games cost money and need to make money, and MMOs are even more expensive. Good developers are expensive. And people act like there's NOTHING out there right now that gives an experience like that. There is. You (generally speaking) just also, as I've said before, want it to be new...

    Pan'Theon: Rise' of th'e Fal'Len - #1 Thread in MMO

A few of those are good examples of what I'd call "good difficulty", but some of those are too likely to implemented badly as well - and anything that is nothing more than "how much time can you camp something" is a bad one. One that requires a larger team, or more skilled players, are good...

    The Elder Scrolls Online

While it's definitely crap, it all cuts both ways. They'll pay shills to not only pump themselves up, but also tear down others. And it's also acting like non-shill reviews are good and valid too. People all have different standards, and some people will trash and rant and rave over nothing...

But why stop there? Pretty soon they'll just tinker robots with perfect AI, so we can just create Robots as their own race. Then you can be a robot and transform into a plane for instant fast travel, and teleporters everywhere. You can kill dragons by dropping nukes on them from your Gut Bombs...

Thing is, that pattern listed at the top? That's still what most people want. That's why we keep getting it from big studios. Even SWTOR made profit. Even a lot of the people here who CLAIM they want something different, deep down, they don't. That pattern is addictive and proven for a reason...

It doesn't fix the issue, but I've pretty good luck rolling the dice with "join an in progress" for AK. Lots of time only 1 dps was still in there, and within 2 minutes the tank pops in (I'm a healer), and we finish the dungeon just fine, get our stones. I mean sure, sometimes the clock might...

Lol at logic in fantasy games. The point is simply that it doesn't fit into the established lore and setting - but then again, they're tossing almost everything that made Everquest..well, into Everquest, out the window, so whatever.

Is it really? Seems kinda standard for "new MMO during a new MMO drought" to me. I mean, I'm enjoying the game and it's fun, but mechanically, it's a lot of "been there / done that". They just did a great job with the environment and setting and art style to make it feel fresh. I'm still...

I did mean it as a joke, but yeah, if you got a good solid 8 man crew, especially due to the AK queue nonsense, I could see it working out. I don't have a solid 8 man crew, so me and a few buddies just pug stuff, so that obviously isn't going to pay off. I haven't done Garuda HM yet, but...

It's important to note that you're talking about ONE specific dungeon (Ampadoor Keep). Or at least, I assume you are. We run other stuff during the evening and never had the "reserving instance" issue that AK, and AK alone, has. Even on other popular "endgame grind" raids that we don't fully...

Your first class will probably be something like that, if you're doing the storyline, filling in exp with solo quests and fate grinding. Further classes supposedly go quicker with the exp boost, using any other quests still not done and more fate grinding.

"That's a wonderful idea! Here's your ribbon for having the idea while being a big company!" People seem to forget that all that matters is execution. There are a billion great ideas out there, and noone's big great idea is actually unique. It's all about being the first to pull it off (or...

I don't think people are hating FFXIV too much. Although it'll have the typical "dies off after 1-3 months" that all MMOs have these days (even WoW expacs). I never understood the hype on this game, other than fun marketing. Just....not one thing about it interested me. SA was raving about...

Hey, cut him some slack, he claimed for like 10 pages straight that Blackwulf was a shill, then another 5 that Blackwulf was Matt Firor, only to finally be proven completely wrong. Those wounds take time to heal, you wouldn't pick on someone who just got hit by a bus, would you? (Wait, it's...

I've actually felt that from the first to the later dungeons, there's a real nice ramping up of mechanics to deal with. More things going on at once, less room for ignoring or missing a mechanic, more phases, etc. Now whether or not any of that makes it difficult depends on the person.

Yeah a quick google anytime over the past month is tough to do. Speaking of logical fallacies, you moved the goal posts by saying "Well it's blocked at work". You're calling out a game/company as "shady as FUCK" having put in zero effort to find it out, acting like they're trying to hide it...

This is kinda what happens when people boil down arguments to great intellectual statements like "sucks". The implementation of VG "sucks" from a technological side. It's been a nightmare on the software side for 7 years, and anytime they gain any population, it rears it's head again...

I think raider-only-types will bail until 2.1, then come back, since there's not much else out there right now. But the more laid back types might stick around a little longer - doing all classes on one character is a very appealing change compared to most MMOs. I never, ever create alts...

    Is the MMO Market imploding?

I didn't play DAOC for very long, but I thought it actually had something that was explicitly called "Task Master" or some such, that gave you 100% no story just "I want you to kill 10 bears" tasks, with some bonus exp once you got done, that were repeatable forever.

Why does everyone talk about HAVING to run AK over and over to get a full set of Darklight? I've read several reports that state that's completely wrong. And dumb. Yeah, more gear helps, sure, but plenty of people say you can get by with just a few for HM Primals and starting Coil (which...
