The dex stack build has a shitload of theoretical DPS due to the way spectral throw and snipers mark interact, but it requires a fair bit of attack/ramp time for the projectiles to split and come back was the main issue. I'm not sure how to even actually calculate it in PoB, or if you even can...

Yea I'd like to see some kind of change or revision to it for sure. As it stands now your shield/glove/boot slot all basically start with 'does it have t1 suppression' and all the rest of the rolls are whatever after that.

It'd take a lot for arcane surge scaling to ever matter unfortunately. Not only is archmage complete trash, but arcane surge itself is so garbage right now that trying to scale it's base value seems like a losing battle.

The purity of fire one is really propped up by the shield as well. Getting near ~60% of everything taken as fire from that one item is the only reason anyone cares, otherwise it would be just as worthless as the other purity ones are.

If you want like 5+ offcolors your only real hope is get like 3-4 of what you want via bench/chrome spam then just grind for the harvest recolors you need. Can try and vorici it but the weights on him giving you more than 1-2 white sockets are fucking abysmal.
