No, not exactly. There was a flaw in the exhaust valves for the LS7 motor and sometimes the valves would break, dropping into the cylinder. Didn't always happen, but it's common enough to warrant replacing the heads. It's piece of mind. Everything else is bullet proof...

And it's light weight and it's reliable, and it's easy to mod and the transmission is stout and it's the last 427 small block, ever. I'm shopping for one as well; 2009-2013. If you get one, make sure the heads have been replaced, or do it yourself first thing.
