Musicals can be good. The question is if this movie will capture the zeitgeist like the first one did, or if it'll just be a vehicle to replace dumb Joker with super-better-in-every-way Harley, plus a side-serving of The Message. The modern remake project is objectively way, way, way nicer than the original in pretty much every regard. The only places it falls short are narratively and in the area of capturing moods (like having Midgar slums be so damn bright).
