Well, this thread is unreadable now, but I will say Rust telling that woman to kill herself was hard core. Also I don't believe either of the guys is a killer.
The weather is nice in LA, there is a lot to do. The problem is just the traffic. Everything is a long ways away from everything else and traffic is shitty all the time. Just realize that you are going to have to spend a lot of time in your car.
I walked through the Tenderloin alone at midnight once. No one bothered me but I did have one totally insane conversation with a guy who alternated between giving me advice on where to find prostitutes and calling me a racist. I got asked for change like 25 times. I wanted to say "If I had...
What the fuck does that have to do with anything? You still just have to pay the deductible. I'm not suggesting that you go without insurance.
Again, you misunderstand my post. I'm not suggesting that they should buy their own insurance, just that they should not push for the Cadillac plan...
Some of that stuff actually makes sense. I know two old timers in the last two months that fell and broke their hips, had a hip replacement the next day, and died within a week. I can't help wondering about the motivations there and whether things would have been different with another system...
You're missing my point. It's not that people wouldn't like that, they just wouldn't pay for it themselves because it is wasteful. I would love to have a cheese whiz fountain in my living room, but it's wasteful so unless someone else is paying for it (or at least I *perceive* that someone...
So you should have to live in a certain area if you want health care?
I do think single payer is preferable to fully socialized health care, but it's just because it's only half government instead of 100%. It's just an example of how the government gets shit done (and I say this as someone...
I doubt that anyone cares but I am switching to a different satellite provider (DishNet) tomorrow. Instead of 3Mb and a 17 GB total download cap it has 5Mb and a 15 GB cap with an additional 15 GB that can be used between between 2AM and 8AM. Since a significant portion of my bandwidth use is...
This is part of the reason that I am skeptical of putting the government in charge of a greater amount of health care. The VA is a fucking mess and it's our version of socialized medicine. One of my neighbors who is a navy vet broke his leg a couple years ago and he had to sit around for hours...
Population density is helpful, not a a downside. In the US we have thousands and thousands of little podunk towns that still need a hospital.
The prices quoted above are skewed by the fact that employers pay for insurance. As a 36 year old man with no notable health problems, I pay $275 a...
I honestly have no idea what I want for health care in the US. There is zero chance of single payer or socialized health care because as Kreugen mentioned, it destroys the health insurance industry and whether or not that is a good thing, the health insurance industry has way too much juice in...
If google is going to build robots to run fiber optic cable to everyone in the US then I welcome our new Google overlords and I will be putting a framed photo of Larry Page up in my living room.
Wherever they're going, it's good news that they are still talking about expanding. Google has a tendency to be a bit ADD on some of this stuff and I wouldn't have been surprised if they just sort of did this half assed and then sold it off to someone so they could go build robots or some shit...
FWIW, the US actually has 3 systems in place for health care. A fully socialized system (the VA for military veterans), a single-payer system (Medicare/Medicaid for the elderly and very poor), and a fully private system (everyone else).
Just trying to help the OP get the info that he's looking for without getting caught up in the whole debate. The Obamacare thread is filled with goodness if you're looking for that sort of thing.
I am rewatching all three seasons leading up to the new season. The books are already fading in my mind and I'm not taking the time to reread all 5000 pages of that so I'm just rewatching and hopefully that will keep me straight on everything.
Kreugen is spinning pretty hard here. Just keep in mind that he is pushing a political stance and exaggerating for that purpose. US health care has a lot of serious issues, but I live in one of those states that he is referring to and under no circumstances is anyone told "fuck you, go die in...
That sounds absolutely terrible. I have always been paranoid about blood in my stool. It's all I can do to keep from rushing off to the emergency room every time I eat beets or pomegranates.
Something like pulled pork or green chile is good because you can have it over rice, in tortillas, as a sandwich, straight from a bowl, etc. You can also cook a big ass ham or pot roast and that can make various leftovers.
I retract my previous complaint. Got an email today that I was being refunded $5 on each of the two sets I ordered (one for me, one for my sister). My love affair with Amazon is back on. I did not contact them to complain, they just did it.
My dog being a ranch dog, the toilet is like the 7th grossest thing he drinks out of on a regular basis and of course he eats cow shit daily. I don't make out with him.
I used to have one of those but the dog always ignored it for the fresher water in the toilet. Since the toilet is easier to refill and has to be cleaned anyway, I let him go with his preference and gave the waterer to my Mom for her cats.
If you are doing fine then why all the whining about usage "crippling" profits?
And it's 26 quarters of losses in TV subscribers, not losing money.

Just because you aren't making money doesn't mean that Comcast isn't.
Comcast Profits Up Sharply, Along With TV Subscribers - New York Times
$1.9B in profit in Q4 of 2013. What do they do with it? Stock buybacks and increase dividends to stockholders (and now trying to buy TWC)...
This is a grill recipe for leg of lamb but I would bet that it would also work with a shoulder roast.

Have you tried it? What is theoretically possible and what is reality are very different. I have a lot of experience with 1 MBit and more recently 3 MBit internet.
