You could look into the Kawasaki ZX125, it's supposedly a few inches taller. Buy used and save, they hold their value and if you dump it you're not out much or you can re-sell it if you don't like it. The turbo kit is cool, but not practical. I'd probably just go big bore kit.

Try to rotate between story, side missions etc. It will keep it engaging. I had the same issue until I started balancing things and it became better. I didn't go for all the question marks on the map either, just the quests I found.
