You are correct, there is a processing cost of projecting higher resolution textures. But right now for most systems the bottleneck is memory.

Devs being able to have 16+ GB of ram would be wonderful, but I think 8GB is a good pricepoint. People are so used to low res textures that they just don't understand what playing a game with hires textures is like.

8gigs is fine. And the problem with selling someone another 4gigs (or whatever) is that they're still going to make the game only utilize up to 8gigs. It's not like they'd release a high res texture patch for those with >8gigs of memory.

Budos, what does a high alteration do? Nuday, I think just about everything works well on normal difficulty. Odds are that if you had the same amount of focus on using weapons as you did magic you'd just be running around two shotting everything.
