Yea, it doesn't sound great, but maybe it could have changed over the course of development into more bloodlines like, which might have worked. I also look at the game Dark and Darker and see it mechanically working like that, but with a full RPG story and side quests.

I can't think of a single game that I spent more time on it outside the game than actually playing it. I have maybe hit the 200 hour mark on 1 out of every 50 games I have played, so someone spending 200 hours putting that together, especially when it's so close to release, seems ludicrous.
