Heh that's kind of a silly bet. The servers coming down or staying up at release is a fairly poor indicator of success or quality. My server in WoW was down more than 50% of the first 24 hours of launch.

Sounds like revisionist history to me. The general sentiment was surprise it worked that well, but apprehension that release was yet to be seen. But yeah, the 5 day early access and even the 3 day early access was the smoothest first day launch I've played in.

Yeah it didn't take long in my compsci studies to realize that database programming and administration is a very specific subfield of compsci with very important considerations and I didn't want anything to do with it beyond using using a stock installation of SQL/oracle.

The mob XP nerf is so infuriating. If you built a quest system that would make you want to dungeon-squat in a cave somewhere and just grind mobs all night while drinking, watching movies and shooting the shit in teamspeak you'd have TESO's quest system.

Put me in the group of people totally wrong about launch. They're still not officially launched of course, but after a day of pre-access this is the best MMO launch ever.

We're in this for the long haul and early victories do not determine the final outcome, but we have had some success in Cyrodiil so far. As far as I know we have the world's first keep claim and our faction got world first emperor.

Haha sorry. Another serious problem is how frightening games can be with the Rift. One popular game is Dreadhalls and it's a pretty low budget game. Imagine what a more visually realistic game could present:

1. You get brought to level 50 in the PVP area, Cyrodiil, so it's a little balanced. Skills and gear impact PVP. From what I hear a V10(max level) player is worth 1-3 mid-level players. 2. Not sure, but in TESO we'll probably be doing a lot of PVE to gear up for PVP. 3. For leveling I imagine...
