It only seems like you"re having fun, because your intelligence generally drops (with alcohol that is) enough to allow what normally encompasses fun for you to expand to include all sorts of stuff.
Believe it or not, it"s possible to have fun w/o needing some manner of chemical assistance...
Maybe to distill what Ngruk was saying since people are giving him flak, perhaps it could put as "Developers have a ton of stuff they"re dealing with and they have to account for alot of stuff, you"ll need to excuse them if they don"t instantly correct an "obvious" error without looking into...
Opposite direction = not high fantasy?
Make it so. You should cash in on the elements Conan got right (boobs, blood, and dark themes). Then add some Cthulu/Sci-Fi theme with a dash of Left4dead! Simmer for 10 months in a vaporware pot, pour and serve!
Even hardcore players can learn from even more hardcore players. If you are getting solid information from the best sources, even if you have just a mere sliver of something new and useful to your typical hardcore guy, they will still see you as a valuable resource. Let"s not forget this...
As was stated before, try little things like holding hands, sitting in close contact, hugging, etc. Also the small kiss on their cheek works, too, as an opener...you might be surprised at how they react to your "innocent" kiss ;P
It doesn"t fly, but honestly I preferred that outcome to "Hi, I fucked (insert guy"s name here)".
Anyways, it was a complicated relationship regardless. The best term I could think to describe it was "yo-yo". The fact she was bipolar didn"t help I"m sure.
I once had a girlfriend long ago that kinda pulled that during a relationship. It turned out she ended up just experimenting once with another girl, but honestly I didn"t feel as bad that she was with another girl then it if was another guy. Infact, it was kinda hot ;P
Yes, because the ability to port yourself home instead of being forced to get a port from a caster class or spend 10+ minutes getting to a spot you want to log out at was really worth giving up for "immersion".
1st person vs. 3rd person is a dif beast. TBH 1st person is great if the game...
The ultimate status symbols was the loot we got from Ventari, during the first and only kill of him on the server >;D
Many monks cried the day I looted the only robe that would ever exist on the server until they started to compact them all.
That"s just human nature. Eventually you will get bored of something and want some variety or something new. Granted, some people can be entertained on things they consider fun for a long time. I used to play stuff like Starcraft and Battlefield 1942 daily for years, purely because I truly...
I dunno what he did raid wise in EQ1, but I remember a PC Games article he wrote /w screenshots when POP was released. It was funny looking at some of his text screenshots of him going "OMG!!!!!!!!" as some mecha-gnome attacked them.
Much in the way firms hire former-hackers to develop software protection, MMO developers might do well to hire a former-high end hardcore raider.
The same general thought applies: This guy used to do this for a "living". He knows how they think, what they might try, etc. It could do wonders...
Eventually, a sizable portion of the population will get tired of a game, leaving the more core market as a remainder. Many of the games that have avoided this are usually online games, most of which allowed a person to create a mod that revitalized the original game (Half-Life/Counter-Strike or...
That seems like a valid concern. Names like Schilling, Todd McFarlane, and R.A. Salvadore hit some nerd/sports vibe in America, but probably less so in overseas markets.
I think regardless as to the IP, if the game is solid it might be picked up. Although the Asian market can be hard to crack...
Curt"s avatar looks like the bastard child of a Beholder and the green planet thingy from the covers of the Hitchhiker"s Guide to the Galaxy books ;p
In terms of making a franchise, it obviously is a solid idea...although it can take time to build. And it isn"t always a guarantee. Riddick did...
Senior engineers are important because they know how to move their sentries up when the front moves up on CP maps, they build and maintain teleporters, and they don"t let spies wreck everyone.
Man, I play too much TF2 ;_;
People who like non-instancing can usually be categorized into a few categories:
1) They want to dominate (aka spawn racing, controlling spawns, etc)
2) They want to use the game as a chatroom (aka camping...you only have to do stuff every 10-30 minutes, otherwise you are chatting/surfing...
The flipside is it was always a bitch finding a party who knew what the fuck they were doing ;/ Back when I played, most XP groups lost me more then what I actually gained.
AOL NWN would have been a much different beast if they had allowed for melee in PVP. Since spell casting was the only allowable PVP, CLAMS (Cleric/Mage) pretty much ruled the roost.
I know you don"t want to go into the sekret sauce type stuff, but can you reveal how fantasy based is it?
Like is it pure LOTR-style magic stuff, or is it kind of a combo like WoW or FFXI (Fantasy + steampunk elements)?
I loved invis pryo ganking in Wow Beta, because I was a warlock with see invis and most invis pyros thought they were king shit and no one could see them ^_^
Curt if this new game has l33t monks, I will play it. The ability to do Dragon Ball Z style crap is an extra bonus!
Raid leader: Ok, Monks0r tanks!
Monk: KAME-HAME-HAAAA!!!
*Undead Dragon is hit for OVER 9000!!!!*
*Undead Dragon dies*
Monk: Grats me on [Robe of Assbeat]
Raid Leader: Wtf...
Too bad I"m not at UMass anymore ;(
EQ1 had a couple decent quests (I always liked the Qeynos Investigator line), but by and large they were totally shit. Essentially you had "brute force questing" becoming the means to actually find anything. Spam 1000 words or phrases at random NPCs, IDing...
