I thought that Verizon Fios deal was just for NYC, not the entire state. IIRC NYC is suing Verizon for not holding up their end, but Verizon is arguing that they laid the fiber, but nobody wants to pay to hook up to it. The Thurman project is awesome, I'd love to see more of that here.

Yep, it always sucks sinking money into something you know you'll be replacing soon. That's why I've held on to my Nexus 4. I want to have a backup in case I break my OPO, so I won't be pressured in to getting a less than ideal replacement or sink too much money in to fixing it.

Yeah, $100 is pretty reasonable if they guarantee their work, especially if you have any doubts about your own ability to do it. I've had family and friends ask me about fixing phone screens before and have looked at kits for various devices and $50-$75 seems a pretty common price for the parts.

For me it's even better when buying from Newegg. If it ships from their NJ warehouse it's just as good as prime shipping. Sometimes if I order a part early enough in the day it shows up on the next day.
