That is a pretty old phone, I hope you plan on replacing it soon. Just fixed a EVO 4G for a friend and going back to gingerbread was painful. At least the phone only has to last 2 more months before it's getting replaced.

You might want to see if there is a 4.3 based rom for your phone, as that is when android added TRIM support, which should help with keeping the NAND from acting up.

You also might want to try wiping the cache partition, which can be done from recovery even if the device is completely stock.

Bah, I got mixed up and the chromecast can be powered by usb on the TV, not from HDMI.

Power over HDMI was one of the things I was disappointed to see that the fire stick doesn't do but the chromecast does. Not a dealbreaker by any means but it would have been nice.

I have mine set at 1.2. Beyond that I usually start missing things. Also, if you don't find what your're looking for in Pocket Casts, it does allow you to import from OPML and it will even find files on your device downloaded by another app if you want it to. Interface is very nice as well.

Pocket Casts is well worth the couple bucks they charge. Auto download, sync between devices etc.

Nope, you don't need gvoice at all. I've made calls with hangouts and it just shows up as private on calller ID. I've never used gvoice and definitely don't have a number with it.
