    Who died? (Celebrity Deaths)

First, I'm shocked he was only 68. Second, who would've guessed cancer and not a heart attack or diabetes?

I think it's basically the big boys finally heading down to where the rest of the market has been. Everything has been in the shitter except for the top few companies, but because of their weighting, they've been making it look like everything in the market is great. The question will be, will...

Maybe that's why I couldn't get into Yellowstone. The setting was gorgeous, but the dialogue just left me bored. Although I do intend to try again at some point.

What feature(s) or circumstance would persuade you to install a brain implant?

I like that smart phones were brought up, because I've been considering for a long time getting rid of mine. In fact, getting rid of a cell phone altogether. I probably never will just because of convenience, but I think my decade or so in IT left me pretty negative on most technologies. I'm...

What you're talking about though is perfect market timing, just in a negative way. How many people bought the absolute top, and that was the only time they bought? And how many of those people held for a decade? People enter and exit the market at all kinds of points, and so this hypothetical...

I actually think it's the philosophical elements. For instance, the scene where Faith Hill is saying she never would've imagined her life turning out the way it was (heavily implying that it would've been a nightmare to her younger self), but that she wouldn't trade it. Or the one in this...

Oh, well, maybe read my post. It was the Brazos River which is only about 50 miles from Fort Worth. Which I'm fine with taking time (they probably only move a couple miles a day), but they've had a ton of people die. Also, the Yellowstone area would come before Oregon. It's not the Oregon...

This episode was a bit of a miss for me. Still decent, but things like the daughter knowing how to play piano (I imagine only the wealthy or musicians would in the 19th century) and knowing the entire song without sheet music took me out of it a bit. Not being familiar with Texas, the Brazos...

    Smokers / Grills

I didn't fill the hopper all the way, and then didn't realize how quickly it'd chew through them. It's my fault, but at the same time, I probably used a good 15 pounds of pellets. Even with my cheap bag from Sam's, that's still like $5-6 in pellets for a single pork butt.

Got the smoker Tuesday and did the burn off that evening. Smoked a pork butt yesterday. It definitely burns through a LOT of pellets. Seems like a very expensive way to smoke compared to the electric one. I actually ran out and didn't realize, which set my cook back by at least an hour I'd guess...

Really enjoying this through the first three episodes. I feel like I haven't really ever seen a movie or tv show dealing with wagon train settlers. If it's a Roth, just buy whenever. 30 years from now it's not going to matter if you bought at x or x plus/minus 10%. Even now that I'm retired, these moves don't mean much. I'm not liquidating my entire portfolio. If I have to withdraw like 3 years in a row when it's down, sure, that starts...

A lot of the "have bonds in your portfolio" advice came when bonds were in a sort of bubble for about 30 years. Bonds sound great when they're paying out 4-5%. That era is long since past. It's weird, the "classic" comedies of the 80's and 90's all clock in at around 90 minutes. I don't know when they decided every movie needed to be a minimum of 2 hours, but it's fucking annoying.

Conventional wisdom is that time in the market beats timing the market. Since none of us knows what the future of the market looks like, it's better to get the money in as soon as you can and ride the waves up. Because while the market can be volatile, it's within 5% of the all time high...

I ended up ordering a Rec Tec (590). With smoking, I eventually got to the point where I only used hickory.
