That includes people from as far away as Kentucky "attributed" to Katrina. Not just LA and MS. At least that's what wiki said. I read once before that included people killed post Katrina that were killed from touching downed electrical, falling while doing construction and such. I don't know...

This was from Katrina, I assume south Florida has a lot more boats/ships per area than the gulf coast had. I'd be very concerned about somsone elses stuff come wrecking my stuff. Have a large boat float into your house would put a dent in your day I'm guessing.

During Katrina the biggest storm surge was in MS and there were areas where houses, casinos, buildings, etc...were just washed away including the slab for several blocks in. At that point I'm guessing doesn't matter how well your house is built when the entire slab is lifted and washed away with...

Anyone in FL having phone issues already? Got a message via ham from someone with a callsign registered to FL where they pass a message to call someone eventually on the other end. I passed it along. "OK, phone busy" and their name and callsign was in Miami. No idea if they meant all phones busy...

Small town in East, TX got a group of people with special permits from Burma I think it was. The state department (Hillary) brought them over to work at Tyson chicken plants. Does Florida not have contraflow on the interstates? At least here every so often they have barricades that can go out to push contraflow into one direction ready to go.

I left during Katrina, not because I was worried about winds or water. But I took the computers and could continue to work with no power and I think we were without power for 10 days where I left from. I stayed during Andrew. I had a cherrybark oak tree which is a very stoute oak and it was...

Only ever lived in FL in the panhandle, but for most of the state you only have the option to go north. That would bug the hell out of me, at least on the gulf coast you can go east, west, or north depending on where the storm is going and options you have to stay.

The southern half of MS is already on watch in case it turns and heads toward the FL panhandle. We're still full of water from Harvey. People watching it closer than most hurricanes as of late. Apparently hurricanes come on a cycle, it's timed to how long before people forget. So they act like it's all climate change or the end is now. About 10-15 years, which happens to be the cycle we go thru big storm or 3 in a short period, then 10-15 years with mild to no activity then several...

They don't sandbag here for a storm surge. Mostly small flooding and then up against the house to stop the water from coming in because there's a foot of water on the road idiots think they have to drive thru it 1000 times a day at 40mph and the water goes into houses so people sandag against that.
