P99's world is too small to get away with boxing for too long. past a certain point, any worthwhile zone has enough people in it that someone WILL catch on and report you.

got my warrior on Test to level 51 last night, in just under 12 hours /played. not sure if i'm going to stop at 52 so i can take a stab at Naggy, or if i'll just want to blow right past--gonna take a day to ponder. Naggy IS still level-capped, right? thanks to Lvl_32_Bard for hooking me up...

started up an iksar warrior on test. not sure how much i'll play him or how seriously i'll take him. i used some legacy points to get bags of plat, and now in addition to the /testbuff stuff he has a Fungi Tunic, Helm of Rallos Zek, Boots of the Storm, and a couple other things. at level 27...

crazy starting with nothing, but you picked a great class for it. there's lots of Flayed Skin armor floating around since the stuff is HUM/ERU NEC/SHD only. not many people over in Odus/west Antonica though. there's a lot more lowbies over around Freeport, but necro soloing works out better...

this if you want a custom server to be truly interesting, then the content needs to be pretty well thought out and different from regular EQ. i hope he does off the wall stuff, like turning North Freeport into a dungeon or something.

i think the EXP penalty was originally implemented to discourage hybrids from soloing too much, but it ended up having the opposite effect...

you don't need LOS for most beneficial spells

best camera view is F9 twice (for over the shoulder view), then zoom out and alt+up so that your feet are at a bit above the bottom of the screen its easy to loot corpses this way, just stand in so that the corpse is between your character and the camera

an Iksar or Troll SK takes 68% more EXP from the group pool on each kill... that's the most extreme example, though. still, with two hybrids in the group, that's like adding a whole 'nother player. IMO its not a huge deal, but its more than 4%.

hybrid EXP penalties are still in on P99 though, and the penalty is shared with your group.... so, there's a bias against hybrids in pickup groups. especially Rangers, sadly. as a hybrid you really need to find a good group of friends/good guild.... but thats what EQ is all about anyway, imo.

i soloed 24-30 on my necro killing goblins in Highkeep basement. if you pull the goblins up one floor (to the room between the goblin room and the merchant miner room), you can fear them and they will just run around aimlessly.... neither going down a floor nor up a floor. was getting like 6%...

from what i hear, this server is dead. still technically running, but after the switch to private was announced a whole lot of people quit.

the last progression servers were kind of a bummer though. they left in too much of the later stuff.... my warrior skipped Crafted armor because the quest armor he got at level 10 was better... they left in a lot of newer tradeskill recipes, Cazic Thule 2.0 and Chardok 2.0, etc etc etc...
