Arkk's Weight Lifting / Fitness Thread

I don't do physics. I just know that adding mass, not necessarily muscle, does in fact have a correlation to increasing bench press. Maybe it's just got to do with cushioning the joints better. Fuck if I know. But I've been lifting for a decade and that's my conclusion. Why does body weight...

Arkk's Weight Lifting / Fitness Thread

It's not "easy" but bodyweight has one of the biggest correlations to bench press. If I put on 20 pounds of just fat, my bench press would go up about 30 pounds.

I've done enough cuts to the low teens, and seen enough other people do them, that I know people vastly underestimate their body fat. You always think "I'm just 10 or 15 pounds from being shredded." You drop 20 and still aren't where you thought you'd be.

If you're hiking 8 hours a day, I strongly recommend forgoing hiking boots and finding some comfortable trail runners. As for training, just start hiking. Eventually you'll find your hiking legs.

Not only are they on steroids, but you're talking about guys that have been training their entire lives versus an article aimed at brand new lifters. What works for someone who's been doing it for 2 months is not the same as 20 years.

Debate Roundabouts: Efficiency in Action or Vortex of Death

We've got a roundabout at the main intersection of the base I work on. I'll be honest, I have no idea how the traffic would ever flow properly there without it. Everyone knows how to use it. Most of the roundabouts I see other places are single lane though, which I dont think function as well...

LOL...okay then. 5'7" at 210 and 10% is an FFMI of 29.66...which would make you one of the most genetically gifted humans to ever walk the earth. Anrold is 6'2" and won the Olympia at about 235. You either have no idea what you're talking about, or you're running a ton of drugs.

This. All body fat measurement tests are garbage in my opinion. The value in them is as a measure over time. If you do a bod pod or DEXA and get 15% and then 4 months later get 13%, you can be relatively sure you lost about 2%. But whether you're actually 13% depends and it's better to just...

    Hawaii

Been in Kauai since the 7th. Hiked to the Hanakapi'ai falls tdoay (part of the Kalalau trail on the Na Poli coast). Probably the best hike I've ever done. First, despite the elevation, it seemed relatively easy (coming back up from the beach was a fucking workout, but otherwise not bad). But...

AIM is getting ready for the big sleep

Wife and I spent a ton of time talking on it before we met, and while I was deployed. Been married 13 years now. Seems like AIM had a large influence on that.

NHL 2017-2018 Season: Penguins already sucking dick

Meh. I always look at it like he's one of those players if he's on your team, you like the way he plays, but for everyone else you think he's dirty. Probably happens more often in the NFL, but it applies here as well.

    Rick and Morty

I was just getting at the fact that those are by far the most liked episodes by most people. And so the conclusion I'm taking from that is people like that plot line. I'd like to see more of it. I do agree that it's an animated comedy. As long as I keep laughing, I'll watch.

How did Simone get cast on this show? Holy fuck she's one of the most low energy people I've ever seen on TV. Made me want to take a nap listening to her talk.

    Rick and Morty

You know, I really feel like they needed another episode that advanced that plot. We've essentially got this massive plot with the Council of Ricks, but we're getting 1 episode a season that actually moves that plot forward. The rest of the episodes are all almost monster of the week type ones...

That's pretty disappointing to hear. Maybe they'll patch it before I make it that far. Not sure how close I am to Arx; currently level 15 and getting ready for black pits.

I use a lacrosse ball. Mostly on my traps and upper back. Pretty sure I've done my back before (laying down) and it was brutal. Prefer to use the foam roller for that.

    Divinity: Original Sin 2

So I was doing some research and I think doing all of the quests in act 2 is a bad idea. I was tempted to buy this from GMG the past couple days (~$15), but I figure it couldn't hurt to wait. Go light with them. They're seriously one of the biggest ass kickers for legs I've ever done. I almost always feel like vomiting afterwards. I think when I was doing a 3 plate squat I was still only doing bulgarian split squats with like 50 pound dumbbells.

    DOTA 2

That was brutal to watch. Seems like Newbee were in their own heads from the start. Almost like they lost the whole thing in that first draft when they let Furion through.

Tuco, consider doing bulgarian split squats. They're probably inbetween lunges and pistol squats as far as center of balance. And they'll give you more stability than the pistol squats. Also, do this before your leg days (I actually ended up doing them for a while before any workout).

    Divinity: Original Sin 2

So speaking of the humor in the game, I laughed that there's essentially a pizza party in the game. The one guy asks you what "flavor" of stew you prefer (feminine, masculine, or surprise me). Was disappointed there wasn't a hairless stew option.
