I'm currently level 4. And from what I can tell, I don't actually have any way of leveling up either (the only trophies are for winning ranked matches, and the all hero challenge).

I'm glad that's not the norm. As a new player, it's awfully annoying when someone abandons immediately after first blood like the game is already lost. Shit happens incredibly often (like, 75% of the time).
