Was mostly joking- but I'm not sure anyone other than Waymo knows how much control actual humans have or how often they exercise it. Honestly my personal experience with Waymo has been meh. For example, I usually walk the 10 blocks or so from the train station to work when I go in but I wanted...

I know you're joking, but the idea is that all that shit will be automated. You'll keep a baseline small amount of money in an account tied to your persona. Deductions will be automatic, but so will the refund at the end of the month (or whatever time frame) that refunds all your deductions, up...

That would help, but it doesn’t solve the whole problem. A one-time registration fee is a fixed cost. Spammers amortize fixed costs easily. If I pay $5 to register an account and then send 5 million messages, that fee becomes irrelevant. The spam problem isn’t account creation anymore- it’s...

So far BTC is following the cycle to the letter. No guarantee it will continue to do so, but if it does, we have at least one to two more legs down, then it needs to wallow in the doldrums for a while. Then a climb to a new ath. Macroeconomic conditions are very different this time around from...

I know, I'm just indirectly complaining about the trend of streaming sites to drag shit out as long as humanly possible to keep those subs going. Did a quantum deep dive a few months ago. Here's a pretty succinct (as succinct as a complicated topic can be) explanation: Really important distinction: BTC addresses aren’t public keys. They’re hashes of public keys. Your public key only gets revealed when you spend from an address. So...

Don't disagree. The quantum issue itself is a little different than most FUD btc has lived through though, in that the danger here is very real and the consequences of failing to address it would be catastrophically serious. Like you said though, there is a relatively easy solution (from a...

As an aside- gold is now rough double the price of platinum. Made me wonder why plat in EQ is 10x gold so I looked it up. When EQ was released platinum was worth significantly more than gold was in 98/99.

Also far fewer of them, which means it's easier for them to collaborate (collude) towards the common goal of opposition. Ultimately a losing battle for them though, I think- which if you believe in capitalism is good for consumers.

Yeah banks starting to wake up to the existential danger crypto poses to them. Their arrogance has made them slow to the punch here, but they can hit more than hard enough to make up for being slow- as we are seeing.

People knew, but it didn't get brought up much lol. I'd say there was a hope that computing power would eventually compensate, but those people tended to be the optimists. Not to be overly negative, but there were enough crises going on all at the same time that you could kind of take your...

We fought the good fight and managed to eliminate a lot of 3rd party gold sellers, but like I said, it was doomed to be a losing battle because we didn't have support from programming (not their fault), marketing, and the publisher. I was part of the Sigil team that battled rmt stuff in Vanguard. Learned quite a few lessons from the experience, but the main one was: if you are going to take a stand against 3rd party rmt stuff, you need to consider that through all stages of game- design, publishing, marketing, GM tools...

Count me firmly in the camp of those who don't care much about flashy graphics. I still dust off Super Mario Bros 3 every once in awhile because actual gameplay is what's king to me. Not sure there are hard fast rules or definitions for this stuff, but your list is pretty good imo. Like I said, I think for it to be a "collapse" it needs to result in fundamental structural changes. Great depressions clearly qualify. You could definitely argue that 2008 caused deep structural...

It's semantics, but I wouldn't consider 2020 a collapse. A crash, yes, but not a collapse. To me collapse implies a fundamental structural change with either no recovery or a really lengthy recovery that involves rebuilding.
