I saw Danny Elfman live with an orchestra a few years ago around Halloween at the Hollywood Bowl. Super fun stuff. They played a lot of stuff like Beetlejuice, Simpsons theme, etc.

It’s a shame because it’s a good base of a game with an iconic IP, but it’s just so brain dead. I think with some relatively minor tweaks and additions they could make it way more interesting too. But it’s been around for how many years now.

Exactly. I stopped playing because it’s so boringly easy. I leveled with hammers, changed to auradin, and within not that many hours of playing was crushing everything. I went from not playing in years, not understanding the systems, not optimizing anything, to insta killing anything I walked...

I’ll definitely log in and check that out briefly. But if it’s just like the pit where you simply grind ever slightly increasing gear to go higher, it’s probably gonna be a one and done for me.

The little bit of grind there was, was fun enough and quick paced and not bad. But man, there’s no endgame here. Everything outside of pit dying instantly is like…yay…cool…why am I still playing. I’m a very casual player these days and this doesn’t even have enough going on for me.

I got up to being able to kill t4 stuff with no effort and got to pit 80 or 85. Aaaand I’m done. It was amusing getting up to that point but I have no interest in min maxing into higher pit levels or what have you. I think I did just about everything I could find as far as new things to kill...

I think (at least I feel like I read this) you specify when you start a new character if you want to do the story or not. Otherwise it just pops you into that town.

Yah, exactly. I have no doubt they’re better games, they’re just too much for a casual player at least in my experience. I’m sure if you have the time to dive into them and really learn the systems they’re more rewarding.

I hadn’t played this since it came out. Reinstalled and got up to 60 with 40 paragon in just maybe 6 hours of play. Seems fine enough for what it is. More casual than POE 2. I haven’t got into any kind of end game obviously (I haven’t even unlocked torment yet.) I don’t play games a lot...

I was listening to Adam Curry talk recently, who is a plane AND helicopter pilot. He said something like “I don’t fly on personally owned planes or helicopters of people I don’t know very well.”

This newest sequel is not, not great. It had promise in the beginning then it just ended up very convoluted. Disappointing.
