I'm running Vyr + Tals and Arcane (AT spec). No where near as face roll as my WD (but like the challenge), but still works. I still cannot get over the delay on AT vs. Disintegrate, but the damage speaks for itself to go AT. AT:C vs D:CN (at 1.66667 - 1.81818 aps for this example)...

I don't have a DH (atleast at 70) but can agree that my wizard gets gang-raped decently in higher torments (5 & 6), but still doable none-the-less. I honestly believe that being fire spec is to blame as it doesn't do enough burst to trash/elites to survive (unless you run Wand of Woh build)...
