Nah, the mods really don't have to do something about it. It's not a very big issue save for maybe 4 people(hint: it's the ones who interact with him the most). The vast majority don't care or have the ability to ignore and/or make fun of him.

I usually just use a big pot if I'm only cooking up one or two servings. If I'm cooking more, I use the big plastic tub. I put it away after each use.

It's been around for over 40 years and is just now affordable in the home. If you enjoy cooking, it's a very useful tool. I don't see it as a fad at all. EDIT: That being said, I don't think I would dedicate a feature in my new kitchen to it.
