In my experience this is true. I never understood how adding layers and process onto what I do would help anything. Boss says "do these things" and I either do those things or tell him what I can't do and why.

There's plenty of stuff no one is gonna see again. Legendary quest lines, the invasion of naxxramas, the original naxxramas raid, the opening of aq40 (seriously cool stuff) . I'm OK with them removing legendary quest lines when an expansion ends. You missed out if you didn't go through it.
