Right, even like nebulae for instance. You watch Star Trek and they depict them like these opaque clouds. If you were actually inside a nebula it would still appear like empty space. They are very diffuse.

Yeah, but it doesn't look like that to the naked eye (or through a telescope). You have to take long exposures for it to appear anything close to your picture.

I took an astronomy class at college and the professor had his own observatory at his house. Had us all come out and take a look. I think he said it cost him about 20 grand or so. We looked at Andromeda and all you could see is a fuzzy mass. Might as well just look at pictures from Hubble...

Yeah, this series is reminding me of FX's Legion. It's cool and all, but if you're not familiar with the source material you're probably left wondering WTF is going on. And, wow, Gillian Anderson did look a lot like Lucille Ball.
