All the "collusion" talk on Lamar is interesting. On one hand...I could absolutely believe the owners banding together to avoid any sort of 100% guaranteed money precedent getting set on a wider scale. On the other hand, it's laughable to suggest that certain teams should definitely be handing...

NHL 22-23: Tanking hard for Bedard

Would not have expected us to hang 8 after that first period. Nice to see some young guys get some minutes on the back end.

NHL 22-23: Tanking hard for Bedard

Yeah but given we sold off so many others (Orlov, Hathaway, Joahnnson, Eller), seems weird to hang on to guys like Sheary/Smith. I know there's talk we might extend van Riemsdyk, so not moving him might make a little sense.

NHL 22-23: Tanking hard for Bedard

Pretty surprised we didn't try to flip Craig Smith for a mid/low pick, or try and move Conor Sheary. Either would have been an okay potential depth piece for someone I would have thought.

NHL 22-23: Tanking hard for Bedard

Reminds me of our last game v the Ducks. Something like 65% expected goals for but lost. Thankfully noted goal scorer Tom Wilson potted 2 last night to prevent the same thing happening less than a week later.

Don't think Wilson should really get shit for the pick. We've all seen that crazy still shot of when he's just about to throw the ball. Just looking at that pic you'd think 80% TD, 20% incomplete if DB makes a good play.

NHL 22-23: Tanking hard for Bedard

Pretty pleased our GM recognized where we were both this season and going into next with all the moves he's made. Only had Carlson signed beyond this year on our blueline, managed to get good assets back from moving Orlov, turns it into Sandin, signs Jensen to only a 3 year extension (good)...

NHL 22-23: Tanking hard for Bedard

I love this move for Sandin. 22, $1.4M cap hit next year than RFA. This feels like Orlov's replacement but a decade younger.
  16. Merrith

NHL 22-23: Tanking hard for Bedard

Wasn't sure how we'd come out with the Orlov trade still fresh, but I guess you lose 6 in a row, it's plenty of motivation to go out and get a W eventually.

NHL 22-23: Tanking hard for Bedard

Hahaha, nice. Nice to see us actually score some goals again, having Wilson back in the lineup and Oshie looking back at full health is nice. We've been so starved for goals the last bunch of games crazy to see us actually put up 6.

NHL 22-23: Tanking hard for Bedard

Eh, not sure how rebuilding it'll be anyways. With how much time Backstrom, Wilson, Oshie, and Carlson all missed this year, it just hasn't been a normal year. Not to mention losing Connor Brown basically for the entire year right at the start of the season. We've had some young guys in the...

At least in Watson's case, can legit wonder if rust was major reason for it, plus small sample size coming into season so late for only a few games for a team already clearly out of contention. But possible both of them are just massive busts.

NHL 22-23: Tanking hard for Bedard

It's decent, I mean that 1st is going to be super low or maybe even just the last pick of the 1st round. But rumors were management and Orlov were far apart on a new deal (apparently mostly term), and Hathaway was going to get a raise to price himself out this summer...so I'll take the return...

NHL 22-23: Tanking hard for Bedard

I think the thing I most want from this season now is for the Leafs to lose Game 7 at home in Round 1. In overtime. On a shortie. Not even because I don't think they deserve a reprieve of a nice run to the ECF or something...just for the sheer let it burn factor.

2022-23 NFL Season : Herbert's march to Glendale

5th round pick, although if he had come out a year earlier he might have been a late 1st/early 2nd. Not hopeful he's "the guy". Feels more like a punt year knowing we don't pick high enough to get a real difference maker (or a likely one, at least), and don't want to pay through the nose to...

Low key Eagle defender did a nice jot sticking to his assignment on that play covering the eligible tackle that was trying to sneak out.

And they can fuck up, and it can be two different guys making different calls a decade apart. In the end, tonight was actually a pretty well reffed game where they got a few close calls right.

2022-23 NFL Season : Herbert's march to Glendale

They shouldn't be. We've already discussed on here that Stafford's cap hit combined with the dead cap hit from Goff the Rams incurred was a big % last year, and Mahomes was something like 17% and change this year, so that old 15% number they used to talk about has been disproven already.

2022-23 NFL Season : Herbert's march to Glendale

Agree 100%. I just think about Niners/Ravens 4th and goal play where Crabtree gets hugged in the end zone and Jim Harbaugh is on the sidelines yelling for a hold and wonder where the consistency is.
  33. Merrith

2022-23 NFL Season : Herbert's march to Glendale

I agree with your point, pretty much 100%. But I also get the whole "let them play" mindset for big games like the Super Bowl for some ticky tacky penalty to not cause a massive potential outcome change. There's the whole "don't let it come down to 1 play to let the refs decide it" thought...

2022-23 NFL Season : Herbert's march to Glendale

Thing is, we see this call 3 times a game all season, but it's usually on 3rd and 3 with like 5 minutes left in the 2nd quarter of a Thursday night game. Just rough as fuck when we're watching a great Super Bowl, and it ends up being the difference between Hurts getting the ball back with like...

I will say, I did see plenty of commentators talking about how everyone else in their division got better in the offseason while they only got worse (trading Hill, etc). Some even picked them to miss playoffs.

2022-23 NFL Season : Herbert's march to Glendale

I really thought they were in trouble at halftime, but Pacheco and run game put in enough work, and Juju/Toney finally showed up in 2nd half to give Mahomes other options than just Kelce in passing game. Their O line actually played fantastic limiting Philly pass rush.

Window thing should calm down a little. SB winner the last 2 years basically disproved the whole theory about not being able to win with QB position taking up significant % of cap space.

Honestly this outcome not so great for Philly. Hurts balled out huge, going to get biggest contract he can get now, for sure. Lot of FA on that D that will be hard to keep. Have to give them credit for the roster they put together this year but might have just barely lost out on best chance...
