I was still playing casually when the expansion came around. I purchased, patched, and after a week, I've been logging in only every 2 months when a chapter comes around to unlock it "just in case".

    World of Warcraft: Current Year

You have 3 champions with ilvl 900? Basically, you cut every 870-880 mission from the list and leave only the 885+ ones. Except for the raid, dungeon, command center, and blood of sargeras missions, you only get missions that are between +15 and -15 of your top 2 champions ilvl. Most of my alt...

Everything can, and probably should. If no items from expansion N has an upgrade in N+1, then what's the point? (save, of course, for new content to see. Before you head back to old zones) The problem is, of course, what replaces what. And it requires tiers of content. Like: Leveling - Endgame...

Can't beat The Monkey King as a bodyguard. He stuns and applies a 20% dmg debuff. Including world bosses (yes, he paralyzes a world boss for 10s. Saw that on Drugon; if I had known, I would have used it during leveling)

    Ashes of Creation

It's not gameplay, it's just "let's show you all those awesome assets we've made". I don't know if we're supposed to think that the deer was a bug and was still spawned in the home or something. I had clearly two plate-thing under its feet which make it look fake.

Yep. It's called lying. I wouldn't be surprised if they did an EQN on us and the NPCs we saw moving around were in fact other people animating them.

What incentive is there to do that? They don't get money from it. Contrary to what you think, they're not in there for trolling. They might be doing that as an investment if they thought there was a chance it would reverse the policy, but that's possibly a sucker bet. Are they going to throw...

They have background. Not stories. The difference between a WoW-type game and an EQ-type game is that WoW insists that you live in your story. You're the one who clears the Defias Mine and kill Van Cleef. You're the General of the Alliance/Horde in charge of the forward base in Draenor. Etc...

Science!! Fucking magnets, how do they work?

We still dont' have the base of a general theory of protein expression. Heck, even with a protein formula, we still don't have a general way to figure out how it folds and potentially expresses its effects (which is why you still have those folding@home distributed stuff). Not going to happen...

Not a good idea. For 20 thousand years, we progressed agriculture by making hybrids and doing heavy selection afterward. In the last 20 years, genetic engineering allowed us to make more progress in term of seeds than the 20k previous years. Making neanderthal-human hybrids when you can simply...

There's been older migrations. The only migrations that fully matters is the recent waves of modern humans, starting 70-50ky ago from east Africa. At that point, Africa already had various populations all over; western Africans appear to have little to no contribution to Eurasian ancestry. But...

And that's why some people think a space "nation" will probably be a terrifying (to us) totalitarian state that not only monitors you 25/25 (because without days, you can probably switch to a more "natural" circadian cycle), but will take measures so that your behavior doesn't even fall out of...

The dude can possibly understand what you're doing, but he wouldn't be able to understand why you're doing it. Merely one century of cultural evolution completely changes what most of society's interested in. There's been a couple of "what if", and the most probable reaction: "you have access...

No idea (don't use the remote mission control). However, there's a fairly big problem now with the Hall missions, and that the missions offered are based exclusively on your highest ilvl champion. Because fuck trying to level the 6th/7th champion you just recruited and activated: they have no...

Science!! Fucking magnets, how do they work?

It's not a matter of "can it be done", it's more of a matter of "why would you even want that?" (on a regular basis, that is). Even without transhumanist stuff, consider how someone from 1917 would consider people on facebook. Heck, I have a hard time understanding how a teen today can spend so...

That's the point though. "So, as a human..." The endpoint of a potential Neuralink technology is NOT human. No more than humans are great apes. The brain (and mind) are extremely plastic, so you're going to integrate into your own consciousness a number of expanded capacities and social...

For the non-book readers interested in the difference, the same sequence happens mid-book 2, except that the Arboghast (the ship) is still in orbit so everyone dies quasi immediately (notably because their spacesuits, for those who were wearing one, are disassembled as well). But Jon-Michael de...

The last of the "trilogy" feels like a "my editor threw a busload of money in front of me" novel. Most of Haldeman's work is very good. Check "Mindbridge" (a classic), "Tools of the Trade" (a spy novel with a SF gimmick) and more recently "Camouflage".

A bit slow, and Holden is (again) worse than the book-Holden. But we have uber-Bobbie to compensate, that's ok. My nitpick is that, unless they shuffle the various storylines, we may end up with a disappointing end to S2. So my hope is that, while everyone is focused on Ganymede, Venus happens...
