Going to have to defend Sid here. Playing a sport where it's far tougher to win championships. 3-1 career Finals record (versus Lebron's about to be 3-5). First team to win back to back titles in 19 years. There's no comparison, Crosby > Lebron.
Well you knew that was coming. Followed up by Sid getting a 2nd Conn Smythe over Malkin (most points in the playoffs, 2nd most goals), and Guentzel (most goals in the playoffs). 2 years in a row I'd argue other guys on his own team deserved it more.
Kyrie with 5 less points than Lebron in the series. Outside of one game he's shown up at least as well offensively as Lebron. Honestly thought he was Cavs best player last 2 games overall. For all Lebron's stats his 4th quarter scoring dried up completely in Games 1-3. Not sure how many he...
They ain't losing tonight the way they are shooting. Would take a similar shooting effort from GS in 2nd half (not that they can't, but unlikely)...along with a collapse from the Cavs' end.
Swept TWICE Itlan. TWICE. And it's still an IF. They easily could have won Game 3 the other night. Christ you ignore the important points all the time. He gets mostly a pass for '07 because that wasn't even when the Cavs (back then) were hitting their stride yet.
That said, even Iverson...
There's only holes if you ignore the obvious, that those Cavs teams had the best record in the NBA 2 years running. Durant was not on the best team in the West. It was another superstar that he did not mesh completely with, this was no secret. I will talk about not being able to get it done...
It's not the same as what Durant did. Durant didn't leave the best team in the league 2 years running because he personally couldn't get it done to go build an even better superteam. Durant left a team that wasn't the best team in the league (on which he had a rocky relationship with the other...
Got a link to page that shows these stats? I can find a breakdown for overall playoffs but not just the Finals. Jordan has a better career FG% overall in the playoffs currently, but can't find a list for just the Finals. 8 more games played still a larger factor for me.
This is ironic when he's "about to pass him" having played 43 Finals Games to Jordan's 35. Lebron going to end up with as many Finals losses as Jordan has wins.
Some of what we would talk about after that (if it came to pass) would depend on how the games were played. On some level, we might not even be talking about Lebron or the Cavs as much as how the hell could the Warriors choke away the full 3-0 lead. Especially a year after blowing a 3-1 lead...
Hopefully Holloway establishes himself as champion at FW, and if Conor comes back to fighting at LW after Mayweather finally lets this fight go forward...Holloway can end up moving up. Would love to see that rematch at some point.
Of course, Lebron's deal is also going up a few million each of the next two years, so are we just comparing the payrolls and max's right now...or are we just looking at what Curry's max could be next year while still only looking at this year's payrolls.
We're talking like ~$18 million more Curry could make with a max deal currently vs. like a ~$26 million gap between the two teams' payrolls? Legit asking, it's hard to find solid numbers...not to mention what cap will be next year, and all the soft cap bs with luxury tax/etc.
I'd say maybe the Pens luck is running out...but Sid managed to score a goal tonight on what was originally not even a shot on goal. Rinne only scored on himself tonight.
Difference is, they weren't the only team to benefit from the salary cap going up. Again, the Cavs are spending far more than just the difference between Curry's current $ to the max deal. Cavs far and away spending more than anyone else in the league this year.
Much like the Cowboys got a break finding a gem of a QB in the middle rounds so their cap will be great for next few years. This isn't some magical thing that only happened to the Warriors. It's also a team that got the Finals the last 2 years in a row without Durant
All of which is irrelevant to this year. This is basic team building in the salary cap era of sports...more so in others that don't let you go into tax like NBA, but you need to get maximum production out of your good contracts. Bitching about the Warriors doing a good job managing their team...
Lebron has it easy. Should be averaging 50 playing with the most expensive payroll in the league and fellow former gold medalists Kyrie and Love. It's unbelievable he's hand picking the most expensive team in the league and losing.
