A lot of people who didn't buy any before the hurrican are now in panic mode and buying all they can before any service interruptions. Probably selling more gas now than before the storm.

Hard to tell how much is people panicking or what already. Reports of stations out of gas as far away as Georgia. I saw that lot of empty stations in central TX out. Of course it's a holiday, largest refinery down, and no telling how many stations in the Houston area will have to pump the water...

At least it wasn't in November of February when all the major refineries do maintenance and schedule their downtime with other refineries. So except for the closures due to weather everyone else should be able to run at maximum output now.

Just engineering drawings of all the processes and structures and associated stuff to go with it. I've never been in the one in the Woodlands or the one that was in New Jersey when Exxon was HQ'd there, but the one in Baton Rouge is pretty big. It's designed to withstand an attack, a big...

Along with all my other stuff had 2 skin biopsies today. Dr. wouldn't lean toward sclarderma or however you spell it. It's about the only thing that would explain all my issues, but I've had multiple ANA test which is the normal first test for it. The skin issues, high heart rate, abdominal...

The amonia is the only thing that scares me. I've been out of multiple chemical plants in my life, but amonia is the one that scares the shit out of me. Dow chemical had an amonia leak once and talking to the guys who made it out, no thank you. Rather deal with roach poison and whatever else...

Well the largest refinery in the country is down now, with Motiva down We'll see how that works out. I know the Exxon refinery in BR which used to be 2nd and is now 3rd runs at near 100% capacity at all times. I'm sure there's a lag and some stockpiles but we'll see how much is real and how much...

They are pretty tight with the "vault" they keep at the main deal in the Woodlands and the "vault" at the refinery in Baton Rouge. When 9/11 happened I was refused entry into the vault until additional higher ups cleared it which was odd cause I went into it daily or weekly. The funny thing...

On the radio today they were talking about how the storm was soooo big and the people that had to move out. People don't realise how much Houston and especially the areas that flooded have grown, even in my lifetime. Use to go to Conroe and then there was a break and then you got to Houston. Now...

If you flooded you really have to watch rebuilding. After Katrina drywall was in massive demand so home improvement companies imported a shit load of drywall from China. Several years later that was a multi billion dollar settlement because the Chinese drywall rotted out peoples copper pipes in...

You would think TV reporters who are from out of town/state would ask how do you pronounce the stuff they are reporting on. Just heard one go on and on about the Brazos river. I can't even begin to pronounce it they way they did. It took me a few times to understand what they were trying to say.

I haven't heard anything about Exxon. But I can tell you from dealing with them for the last 25 years they have a contingency for everything. Everything from hurricans, power outages, plant takeovers, earthquakes even in Louisiana and Texas. Having visited their vault on a daily basis they have...

No place set up for that kind of rain that quickly. My parents were living in a small town 175 miles of Houston 10 years ago. At an elevation of 375ft, not exactly coastal. They got 25 inches overnight just from a freak storm that stalled. It washed houses off their piers that were 100+ years...

Going to assume most people don't have flood insurance for 4+ feet of rain in a day and a half. My uncle lives below Houston on the coast and he's just fine the storm didn't do anything to them wind wise or rain wise.

    Phobia of flying...what to take?

Maybe take a few really short flights to help get over the fear. A lot of commuter type flights are under an hour. Doing it on a longer flight may lose it's appeal pretty quick.

    Phobia of flying...what to take?

Dealing with the TSA and airport normally 10x worse than anything that can/will happen on a plane. Fly first class to start off with, even a short relatively inexpensive flight and work your way down to lower cost. Lot less stress, not just related to the flying.
