I make my jerky out of ternderloin, or what most people call the backstrap from deer (venison). But that's probably not an option for most people here because they either don't hunt, or if they do get them in the quantity that I do.

I'm not that brittle and I really don't avoid that much sugar, but I don't need to add extra on top of stuff. Been one since age 4. Just a cheap Nesco. I've used it for several years and have done a ton of jerky, both beef and venison. But like I said here in this part of TX there's so much...

The pro angler is nice if you can get close to the water, not really something you want to carry very far or even roll around (have the little cart that fits into the scupper holes). I would probably go another direction if I did it over again. Since I live closer to the gulf in TX than I did in...

I no longer live in LA. I wonder if you are old enough to remember 18 drinking age and 15 driving age. From the time I entered the 7th grade till the year after I graduated I knew 13 people who died in DUI related accidents. Twice it was 4 of them at once. Not a fan of drinking and driving...

Because I've never bought duck in my life and why not cook it when you go out and get 5 a monring? I normally try and get a hunt in a couple of days a week before work. Other than steaks and some ground meat I really don't buy much meat at the grocery store. A bunch of deer and possibly an elk a...

I've had my sous vide for about 3 years, maybe a little more. It was a LOT more expensive than they are now. I use it mainly during duck season when I can cook fresh kill duck in it. The other 8 months of the year I rarely use it, but those 4 months I use it weekly if not more than once a...

You could try using a roofing clip to help support a seam where you don't have a joist, but I wouldn't recommend it. It's not designed to hold weight, only to keep your roof sheathing from buckling.

Your main floor joist that span the entire thing that sit on the concrete really should have been 16 or 24" on center. If not you're going to run into issues on where to split your plywood as well as sag. All 4 edges of you plywood need to sit on something.

Most people here use packing mud if they have sandy soils to keep from losing the water. You don't even have to take it out of the bag, just place it on the bottom and let the pond fill up and the bag gets soaked and becomes an effective water barrier. Which area of the country? I can...
