Can't fault him if he really gets dinged on Amazon by reviews based on the unedited RR stuff.

Just to be clear, they've also indicated how roguelike. If you have ever played Lost Dungeons of Norrath... then that's how roguelike it is. Basic floor sets with random "walls" closing some parts of it. I cannot wait until the players in beta scream at how the tower is randomly unplayable that...

He's been spending a long time (compared to the other books), so the common speculation is that he hit writer's block, and slapped something together in frustration. So you end up with a filler, and either you'll drop the series in disgust, or you STILL have to wait for a real book to come.

At the moment, bingeing on a few history books: Napoleon the Great, a general biography of said by Andrew Roberts, which is very great, follows the man with all of its genius and pettiness. Probably a more general (pun not intended) than above. India: A history on the topic of the second...

It's pretty much worthless without a book 9 along it.

And I regret a thousand times pre-ordering it. He pretty much lost his inspiration along the way, and went for filler. Shit. Horseshit. Donkeyshit, even.

    World of Warcraft: Current Year

That's the second iteration of... Withered Army Training. The infinite tower in Shadowlands is presumably the third, except that one is supposed - supposed being the operative word, because it's all statically design content still - to be endless progression. Until you hit the cap, I assume...

Given how much feedback from the previous beta was taken into account... do we really need quarter-long betas?

7.3.5 was bugfixes and level scaling below 100 (6 months after Argus). The last content patch was 7.3. Same reason I ignored 1.12, I only took the last actual content patch of the expansion.

    World of Warcraft: Current Year

    Patch 7.3 -> 8.0 = 13 months. Patch 6.2 -> 7.0 = 13 months. Patch 5.4 -> 6.0 = 13 months. Patch 4.3 -> 5.0 = 10 months. Patch 3.3 -> 4.0 = 10 months. Patch 2.4 -> 3.0 = 7 months. Patch 1.11 -> 2.0 = 6 months (I'm ignoring 1.12 which had no new content). We haven't had anything that fast since LK.

How do you pronounce your forum name?

Given that voice coms weren't widely used back in 1999 when I picked my Dwarven Cleric's name (Ukerric = You Cleric?), I didn't pay much attention to how it could be voiced.

There's maybe two "dangerous" stars that could cause meaningful damage to the biosphere, but not on the order of an ELE. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_supernova_candidates
  23. Ukerric

    The Astronomy Thread

Why? At 600 LY, a supernova isn't dangerous. The estimated range at which a supernova could trigger a mass extinction is estimated between 100 and 50 LY. At 150 LY, you'd get the equivalent of a couple CT-scans per year, which might get an uptick in cancer rates. At 600LY, it's totally...

It's the kind of extraordinary claim still requiring extraordinary evidence. Since it's the same team doing different experiments and getting results, it won't really gain traction until a couple of other labs find similar boson traces. But if it is confirmed... oh boy. Given the low energy, it...

Sounds interesting. At the moment, I'm pushing through China's history : China's Last Empire: The Great Qing, with the history of the last Chinese dynasty, which had to contend with the incursion of the Europeans (mostly the British, at least at first), the Opium Wars, and then the fall with the...

Most misleading title. Pretty much the only way electronics work is due to quantum effects. If you're talking about qubits specifically, put qubits in the title.

It's their damn fault for picking a PvP server. It's not as if you didn't knew this would be a thing. But no. You can play the game the way you want or play the game the stupid bodycampers want, so of course you're going to pick the latter. I have zero sympathy for people who complain about...

    So, who's left?

NASA was trying to get a space MMO, but it was aimed for school teaching. I don't even know where that one ended - if there was anything beyond some tech demo to submit to the RFP. An Expanse-type space MMO would be great. Build up your outposts, find like-minded people to maintain it, exploit...
