What does your ideal modern MMO be like?

That more describes a MMO strategy game than a RPG.

750 pets, most of them rare (700), most of them 25. Because why not. But I've been slacking and I'm missing a lot of them. I just wish there were more Dragonkin. Got more stacks of dragonkin stones than I can use in the foreseeable future...

    World of Warcraft: Current Year

Completely. I usually do archeology in every expansion (I'm still trying to finish the Ogre Pristine collection from Draenor, for example), but that's the first time I entirely skipped it except for the basic achieve (do any 8 quests). The idea that I have a deadline for archeology is... bad.

What does your ideal modern MMO be like?

The problem is that it also has a cost in playability. Either you can do story mode once, in which case when you want to do it, you're screwed because everybody already ran it, and you have a massively hard time finding a group (unless you go the mega-server route). Or you can, but if you have...

What does your ideal modern MMO be like?

I think the Artefact system hinted at in "The City and the Dungeon" (which is where I picked the class-build system idea) was absolutely insane and awesome. It's very simple. Take "Oscar Washington's Staff of Battle". It's very simple, it used to be a Staff of Battle (epic-quality staff)...

But what if all of it is Titanforged?

What does your ideal modern MMO be like?

Something different than every MMO made post-WoW. A few things I'd like to see: - A larger world than the usual tiny/I'll cross the entire planet in 30mn world. Possibly, large enough to cram 200k simultaneous players in the same world instance. Which means a strong procedural generation, which...

Well SJW don't forget that Musk was willing to sit on the technology advisory committee from Donald. At least until he saw it was going to go nowhere and amount to nothing.

Hopefully. Because that's one program that's also horribly overbudget, to the point where it is probably the cause of cancellation or rejection of a few smaller programs that would have been good and worthwhile science. But not to the same point as the SLS, I agree.

A Song of Ice and Fire - Book Spoilers Within

Do 7 first, then see if you need more published by your son after death. That's how you'll graduate from GRR to JRR! (does he even have descendants?)

A Song of Ice and Fire - Book Spoilers Within

Yea, but his publisher hasn't cut ASOIAF into 7 books. Because that would mean the last 2 would be written.

Nope. The purpose of the SLS is 99% providing juicy work to contractors within key states of senators on the ad-hoc committee. There's a reason its common nickname across the entire aerospace community is Senate Launch System.

They've also mentioned that the Falcon Heavy is no longer a "main product". It's going to be used for a launch or two per year for special heavy loads direct to GEO, but their new focus is on the Big Falcon Rocket (BFR, you can replace the middle F if you want...) as their interplanetary...

    World of Warcraft: Current Year

I've just noticed that some of my missions that used to be at 200% (after a while, you've seen them all) were now at 199%. It's trivial to swap a troop or champion to get it massively over 200%, but if you were at exactly 200%, you're no longer.

    What did you just read?

Yea, but the sequels aren't as awesome as the original. As usual, once you try to "reveal" the machinery behind transcendental happenings, it tends to fail. Vinge did Tatja's Grimm World once, and he learned that you shall not delve too much in the mysteries of the transcendental (he did a bit...

It wasn't random. Basically, they started by designing 7 week schedules, in which the 7 original factions were scrambled, and each schedule checked against the previous and next so they wouldn't include duplicates. (can't be arsed to find the blue post that explained that) Then, they added...

    What did you just read?

And finishing this with what I've just read (to stay within the title), I'm still in my foray into LitRPG. Most of it is drek, or uninspired semi-drek, but I've finished recently a couple of good ones: - The Divine Dungeon series, which is the best and most interesting series within the...

    What did you just read?

I tend to skip on "classical fantasy", so I tend to recommend as currently very good fantasy the "Hidden Library" series. No, it's a separate functionality (in case you still have a physical authenticator, for instance). You can use the SMS protection to control your authenticator. Instead of phoning the customer support to remove the auth because you lost it, you can get a SMS code. (in fact, if you have a...

    Pan'Theon: Rise' of th'e Fal'Len - #1 Thread in MMO

This is mostly a modern phenomenon. If you look at games in the oughts, then a lot of them started and grew over a year or two (or more). EQ consistently grew from 1999 to 2003. AC1 did for over two years. I think Anarchy Online (mid 2001) was the very first game to exhibit the burst and crash...

Semi-serious common Fermi Paradox theory: the reason we don't hear anyone is that, within a century, everybody moves to quantum-secured fiber optic coms' and the remaining radio is so heavily encrypted, it's indistinguishable from random noise.
