I had the same thing sort of. Had to punch a couple decaying skeletons to get a cloth piece to sell to buy some food/water so I could get mana to invis up to get my corpse. It was frustrating, but also...it felt kind of badass.

Bandolier available from day 1 opens up some nice "attention paying" bard enhancement. Much easier to do a manual 4 song rot with the right instrument for each song now.
