EQ was hard, compared to the faceroll mmorpgs that followed it. I dont know if you started in '99 but you could barely solo an even con in the early days. If you got an add, you were done for. Corpse run. EQ in '99 was unforgiving and few people could solo, and those that could were not soloing...

Any Euro's having issues signing up for the beta? 1) I click Sign Up, it asks me for my region. When I choose US, it returns me to the home page. Rinse & repeat When I click EU, I get forwarded to the UK page where there is no option to sign up for BETA, unless you create a new account (???)...

I'm all in favor of typing. No need for voice communication in a game the scale of EQ. Day Z has a area comm, but you're on a huge map with 50 people... Not EC tunnel with 500 people. Unless it's restricted to officer guild channel / raid channel --> for very fast coordination of events...

One being a system hog requiring 2GB+ of system memory and 1GB of video memory vs a sysem that requires half of that with the same performance/eyecandy. It's comparing IE6 to Chrome 23. They both show webpages, right?

Early days of EQ, Norrath and Kunark expansion, content was designed to be "consumed" in 1st person view only. I didn't know anyone that played 3rd person view (it was possible but horrendously implemented). So if you create your game to "consumed" in 3rd person view, everything is expanded...

Tried it yesterday and if this game was launched in 2005, it would not even live up to the standards of that time ... I honestely have nothing positive to say about the game.

Many will agree that the well known songs from EQ will stay forever in your mind: Freeport, Kelethin, Merchant. Maybe it was the MIDI music, but in EQ2 it didn't catch me like it did in EQ.

In EQ, I absolutely loved the vendor/merchant music that started the moment you started browsing for goods. It gave you a short moment of "relaxation" music in the middle of the action.

Now I feel like checking it out again... at least it's F2P and it's no longer a 20GB download like it was in beta, right?
