Mad Max will get screwed everywhere. The Martian and The Revenant will win everything. Oscars are more about politics than actual quality as of late (not saying those 2 movies aren't good).

No, Theron for best actress nod for Fury Road is just another example of the CIS white mail patriarchy.

Sucks that Del Toro wasn't given a nod for Sicario. Was a great role for him and he nailed it.

As much as I would want it to, MadMax wont win as much as I think it should- the nod is all it will get in most cases, esp best picture.

Things MadMax should get legit in a technical movie standpoint:

Best Film Editing
Best Visual Effects
Best Sound Editing
Best Cinematography
Best Director

but it wont, it may get 1 overall just to throw it a popularity bone.

edit: wait wait.. Theron snubbed from best actress/supporting (depending on how you look at it? maybe the committee got cornfused) that's harsh...

Time for all a week of opinion pieces declaring the Academy nothing but a bunch of old racist/sexist/out of touch men depending on what movie you liked was snubbed.

Who would you suggest for this very important category? I'm with you, Sylas. This is a fucking outrage, I don't know when I've been more furious. I recite daily all 47 previous winners of the Editing category before I even get up to take a shit each morning. Every year my family and I gather 'round in the slim hopes that this year, just this year, they will do right by the editing community and nominate a film worthy of this prestigious award. And if you think they're shitting on this award, what about this ceremony? This time honored tradition which is clearly just as important to our society as Ben Franklin and Betsy fucking Ross. This holy ceremony which honors good looking stoners, and women with nothing to offer the world but their body and exalts them not only above us... the little people, but above even their peers who weren't invited but spent their entire lives actually...you know...learning to act.

So on the day Alan Rickman who was never nominated for jack shit in his life dies, and I have to hear how Jennifer "I let the QB fingerbang me while we made fun of the Drama Club" Lawrence get yet another fucking nod....

You can all go fuck yourselves.

Surprised Hateful 8 didn't make Best Pic. Seems like he's a shoe-in for a nomination with every movie.

MM:FR gonna mop up those technical oscars nobody gives a shit about. Maybe outside chance of winning director and cinematography.

Would be lolworthy if DiCaprio loses in the Best Actor category yet again

Although I think the Academy is going to throw him a pity bone and let him win at long last

.
I was thinking this as well, for sure visual effects, film editing. Miller should get the director nod, and the film should get cinematography as well, just for the technical achievement of shooting that beast--I can't even imagine how difficult that film must have been to rig up and capture.
