Lance's finger is still fucked up from earlier in the season. Its not an excuse for him, he has looked like shit whether healthy or not, but there are multiple reasons Shanahan doesnt have faith in Trey.

Grant Cohn is kind of hilarious, SI 49ers reporter, he has given some great insight into what is happening with this 49ers team. Basically he said Shanahan ignored developing Trey Lance, instead focusing on THIS YEAR WITH JIMMY, hoping he would stay healthy. He almost did, but didnt. They spent 3 first round picks on a QB who they dont want to turn to against Houston at home, and would rather start an injured Garoppolo.....

I dont know if this is more an indictment of Shanahan or Lance.

Grant Cohn is possibly the worst reporter in all of sports. The fact that you take anything he says seriously is sad.
