The 49ers were (again) one of the unluckiest teams last year, but also face some of the worst salary cap-based turnover next year.

They (along with the rest of the NFC West) also get the NFC and AFC South next year and should win more games regardless, even if they aren't as good as this year.

Yeah it is going to be very interesting to see how this offseason goes.

Deebo is gone, but he will be released instead of being traded. There is just no way a team will give them what they want in order to take the salary cap hit. Whereas if they just release him as a post June 1st cut, it's much less dead money. Or rather they can spread it out I think.

On top of that Aiyuk is still going to be recovering, next to no chance he is ready to start the season. Which is unfortunate because we saw how he started this year when he didn't have training camp with Brock. Outside of that, they really need help on both OL and DL, and if they can't find some answers, they will be lucky to be a 500 team next year.

The 49ers cap situation really isn't that bad, even after extending Purdy and even if they trade Deebo. If you're interested, this video explains it.

You don't have to listen to the whole thing to get the gist of it.

Dak will just get to hang out in the both in street clothes a few games earlier this season.

Uh, I have no idea. Personally while I still think Stafford has good play left in him I also think he had some rough stretches and if our offense was better we could have been an actual Superbowl team. They've already said they're getting rid of Kupp. We've got a super young and promising defense and Puka is great. If they think they can bridge a Aaron Rodgers for a year and draft a QB for the future then I don't know if I mind or not.

If he wants some massive multi year contract I'm not sure I'd be down.

They've done a good job since McVay started coaching, if he knows what he wants I'll just go with his gut on it and bitch about it later.

(I bet he stays)

I think it's pointless for Stafford to go anywhere else at this point, maybe the Rams would like a reset but I'd only do that if they felt like they couldn't get there again with Stafford a year older. I think they're going to want to have a plan at WR other than Puka unless they think Higbee at TE is that big a piece for them. That D is good enough for them to be a force.

His cap number for 2025 is nearly $50 million. Cutting him with a post-June 1 designation would result in a $26.67 million cap charge for 2026, with a $4 million guaranteed roster bonus owed to Stafford. Trading him before June 1 (and before the $4 million roster bonus comes due) would spark a $37 million cap charge.

They are in a bit of a pickle and one thing you can pretty much guarantee is Stafford isnt going to play for the $27m he is set to get paid this year.

Pats have the number four pick. I REALLY want Abdul Carter. Yeah yeah, we need a receiver, but this dude is too beast to pass up. Plus CK would be an instant upgrade regardless of wear and tear so just go get him for the short term and snag your 2-4 receiver in the later rounds with your 2026 being all in on a stud number one.

Now 1a would obviously be Travis Hunter. I'm not sold on Sanders or the Ward kid going in the top 3, which means like zero chance on my hopes on either Carter or Hunter, but here's to wishes and dreams.

I honestly don't remember a draft class with this bad of QB prospects. Almost boggles the mind.

Yeah. I looked at most of Colorado's games if not all of them. Sanders is...good. Like 7-15 good. He's accurate as fuck (literally the most accurate ever in college football), I'll give him that. He also can read a defense damn well from what I can tell.

Buuuuuuuut, dude can't throw deep. DC's will have a field day with this and press those receivers hard. Take away the underneath stuff, and then play cat/mouse all day baiting OC's to have him throw deeper than he's comfortable with.

Ward I know zero about outside scouting reports and highlights, which were meh.

2022 is probably the worst in quite a long time. Kenny Pickett was the only QB to go in round 1 and that was pick 20. No other QB went until round 3.

And Kenny Pickett sucks.

Only QB out of that class that is anything but a career backup is Purdy.

That makes his story even more improbable. Not only has the last pick in the draft outperformed most if not all of the first rounders in the last few years, it was on a year when there were basically no good quarterbacks in the draft and still no one picked him.
