I thought this was an interesting if a bit overproduced watch:

TL;DR is that because the three point revolution became such a focus of the offense and defense, two point shots are now more efficient than any other kind of shot (when that didn't use to be the case), including threes. Defenders are shorter and weaker (because being faster and more agile is better for defending the three) and there's less inside help defense because of the threat of threes, so a post up can eat. Only real caveat here is that there aren't a ton of high quality post players compared to shooters and iso players. So there might be a bit of a regression to the past in years to come as more teams start to incorporate this correction.

Does Las Vegas have a fanbase for an NBA Team? Seattle sure. Las Vegas?

Vegas is a melting pot market. Would you have believed they would have one of the highest grossing NHL teams right now? Basketball is gonna smash there.

I think of Vegas as one of those cities where people are...drifters if that makes sense.

I get it. You also dont need the Vegas team to be success. Its such a travel destination that many people will go there to see their team play because its Vegas. My buddy has been to every NHL/NBA arena in the country. And he said Vegas is in his top 2 for experience.

T-Mobile arena is awesome. Been to a few NHL games and UFC's there and it is always a great time. Pre-gaming out on the exterior elevated-balconies and drinking $30 beers feels good man.

Haven't watched basketball in a while. I've always been a San Antonio Spurs guy, mainly Tim Duncan era. Wasn't crazy about Kawhi Leonard, but the NBA gave him the big push for a while. Last time I really tuned in was probably 7 years or so ago.

Long story short... Kahwi is a Clipper now? And the Spurs got Wemby? That's probably great news right?

Its not just Wemby - Spurs may have the best trio of young stars since KD/Russ/Harden. Still very TBD but its impressive what they are doing now, well ahead of schedule.

I think it would greatly reduce it. Since being in the cellar would no longer be rewarded at all (the 3 worst records will actually have lower odds than the 4-10th worst), bad teams would definitely try to win more games. They would stop sitting their best players past certain points in the season specifically because they don't want to risk a win that might cost them a spot or two in draft positioning. The proposed system isn't perfect but its much better than what's there today.

I like that the play-in teams for the most part get at least a shot as well (3 of the 4 play in teams in each conference will get a lottery ball). Those teams have very little chance to do anything in the playoffs - but if they have a shot they should give it their all and their fans should be behind them. This year I watched my team win its first play-in, and then in the second many fans were rooting against them because if they won the 2nd to make the playoffs you get routed by OKC but lose any chance in the lottery. Good change here to give those play-in teams who are not really contenders a lottery ball at least.
