I was wondering about that too. They made a pretty big deal of focusing on him slicing his inner thigh so I was sort of thinking he got his femoral artery and he was going to bleed out but obviously that wasn't the case which leaves me wondering why the focus on that.

Was really looking forward to this episode filled with combat and finally no spitting, shitting, and farting. How the fuck am I not jaded enough to see the rug pull coming with mutt zendaya jr. wasting most of the episode ? I literally expect the worst 99% of the time and still they manage to catch me unawares and reach new lows.

I thought that too, but I think they just wanted to show that Dunc scored a blow and to show why his mobility was specifically limited for the remainder of the duel.

Definitely thought he was donezo and that was femoral, though.

Her trying to be some kind of badass and doing some hoodrat shit and getting some hoodrat consequences was good as far as I was concerned.

Oh ya, I was chanting "stab the mutt" constantly, so when they finally did it, at least that signaled an end to the filler. It's just too bad any of it existed in the first place, rather than showing more of the seven fight like I'm sure 99% of us wanted.

I'd laugh if now they go right back to the spitting, pissing, and shitting.

There was a lot of /put reality on hold/ with how much damage Dunk took - trying to 'cope' with it while watching, I kind of fell in the middle of:

A) Dunk is physically gifted a la the hound/mountain - big strong and can just deal with more damage than a normie - The Mountain got sliced up bad and poisoned and still did a "gatta get up and go! one last time!" to eyeball squish everyone's favorite Dorn before then rolling over 99.99999999% dead.

B) The dude he was fighting was weak in his attacks, it is why he never jousted "properly" and even in unmounted combat his attacks are not nearly as strong as one would /assume/ a general normal person / fighter man would be- the visor stopping the one stab etc, his stabs not being /overly/ deep etc.

C) Just because of the blacksmith suddenly getting a lot of screen time, some props to his armor, the Tygarian's armor looks more ornate over substance, not made much beyond ability to joust, not meant for melee army type fighting.

Adtl: As mentioned above, hinted at the king guys helm/armor was not his, thus not fitting correctly thus the crush-ability - I assume this is a book thing or something that will be mentioned later if its desired to be communicated.

All to say it was good, the next one is the last one? *sad*

Just fyi there are only 3 novellas ie 3 seasons worth of content for this show.

Anyone banking on fatman to put another word to paper in this or any series is delusional. Also show runner has such a reverence for grrm that I doubt he would continue on with his own non-canon version past the books.

Thus, expect 3 and only 3 seasons of this show

He needs to hire a collaborator and continue working closely with this showrunner. Could really turn things around for GoT. Nobody is interested in HotD anymore, esp since GRRM publicly said it's no longer kosher and part of his vision.

HBO already backed up dump trucks full of money for him to finish his magnum opus ie ASOIAF/GoT and he wrote exactly 0 new books in the 15 years he had since then. Theres nothing that's going to influence him to write another book in any series.

Nobody was ever interested in HotD because the book for that was pretty weak and on top of that hbo changed it all to ultra woke tranny faggotry.

15 years is just such an incredibly long time. Everyone has had a slow year or whatever. 15 years means there's roadblocks in there that he can't even conceive of how to fix.

I think he's in a pretty bad spot with regard to the main GoT story. I think the biggest thing that made everyone turn on the show in the last season was Daenerys turning into a psycho so suddenly. Even though there is foreshadowing of it happening going all the way back to early in the series, she still goes from risking everything for the good of the people to mass slaughter in 2 episodes. They put in plenty of smaller atrocities along the way, but it was always framed as her just going a bit too far with good intentions. If they had shown her more clearly being ruthless and movitvated by lust for power, she would have lost the loyalty of people who have brains and integrity like Tyrion and Varys. They tried the shoot it down the middle by making Tyrion get kind of dumb and giving Daeny token atrocities like burning the Tarleys and triggering events like the deaths of Missandei and Rhaegal but people just didn't buy it.

It's a real tricky thing to write. Maybe Martin could have pulled it off, but the TV writers did not. Now Martin is screwed because the story is already out there and people are mad and he's somehow supposed to pull off this already difficult trick for a bunch of people who are already mad at it. Seeing how he's already fabulously wealthy and money is still rolling in every day, given the choice of living the rich guy lifestyle and relaxing for the rest of his life vs. writing something really difficult that is just as likely to further tarnish his legacy as redeem it, it's not that surprising that he just decided to punt.
