Explored a bit in the last test and oh boy is the world empty when you leave the starting areas. It's kind of weird they're doing so many tests for this game when it's clearly still years away from even an EA launch.

Pro Tip: Do not sleep on the bone fragment repeatable quests at the class guildmaster. They give you a lot of XP and money for the early levels.
Probably won't get a response by the time it's too late, but which guildmaster gives this? I'm really struggling at lvl 2 to find mobs that are actually lvl 2. This has a steep curve where most lvl 3 shit will rock me, and lvl 1's give crap exp.

Only one I know if assling Bard has a bone turn in that gives 1s but no xp. The Hemp/Cotton/Gnoll Eye are best bet, and I think they are all in the Human city.

This is nowhere near worth playing yet. The combat feels like I'm floating in zero gravity and I just can't do it.

Personally, I'm not sure I'm ever gonna be into traversing a world composed of giant cubes. Running over a hill is so jarring.
I guess it depends on what you want out of it. EQ is so far in my past that 1 weekend every 4 to 6 months was all I needed for a nostalgia hit. At least until THJ emu came around, but the main drawn of that server was it's an EQ ARPG where I could see all the raids I missed.

In their discord the devs are very active. They are in absolutely no rush to complete this.

Get up to speed. They have said no to monthly sub model. That is all that is all you need to know.

Monthly sub model is the only one that works for MMO since it rewards developers to make a game that keeps the soul of a MMO.

if your revenue stream comes from something other than a simple monthly sub, well your focus is going to be on whatever that revenue stream is. Let's not put this badass cool looking weapon skin on this hard mob to defeat. Let's sell the skin on the shop!

In fairness, it seems like the only games that still do monthly subs are ancient MMO's. Somehow nearly every game for the past decade has managed to pay for server costs and continuous development without them.

It made sense 25 years ago when hosting online servers was costly. In 2025 it's a relic of an era most don't even remember anymore.

It's also fucking retarded, if I'm being honest. Even a $10 subscription means you're shelling out double the box cost of a AAA game to play something that's usually...not great. I likely won't play MnM just because of it, because as said, why the fuck am I paying a monthly fee for a game in current year?

Shit, I can get game pass for the same price and it regularly gets awesome games at release and you're paying almost nothing. Like Clair Obscur I essentially paid $10 for, and when I beat it I still got to play several others games for that same cost. Why in the world would I ever pay that for a game that looks and plays like EverQuest?

I was turning in bone chips to the Rogue guildmaster in Leont.

Also I personally don't mind the sub fee because its nothing and I mostly play old indie games and shit. A single happy hour is like $50 on the rare occasions I go to one. So what if its $10 a month for 25 hours of enjoyment a month.

And name a f2p MMO since after EQ and WoW that has been good or lasted more than a flash in the pan?

Well I enjoyed this. Bummed it's likely not only years out from release, but probably many months until another test. Almost made it to 8 on war-wizard, which is a bummer because I think it really starts to open up with dual wield.

I spent a butt load of time on the crafting though. I like the balance they have of interdependence. And in an MMO, it's the first time I can remember in forever where there weren't just fucking armor drops galore, and crafting a set was actually necessary. And not only that, but the cosmetics of them are where, outside of probably EverQuest, it's the first time where I can identify what a person has by looking at them. "Oh, you spent a bunch of time farming up copper for that armor."

Although, it also sucks not being able to tell what classes people in your group are. Joined one at the lighthouse halfway through today (which holy shit wish I'd grouped earlier, it's the only way to actually level) and I had no clue what anyone was. Maybe there's a /who command that I'm not aware of.

Anyway, now I'm excited to try MnM again. Played it sometime over a year ago I think, and there wasn't shit to kill in the newbie area, so I said fuck it. Downloaded it for the last test and never actually made it past the char select screen. Just wasn't feeling something about it.

I went hard on leveling last Aprils alpha test. Got to 10. This time I ran around and gathered shit. Made a full set of armour and some 8 slot bags. Now I know how to get a good start. They may have another long test, and I'll be ready. If you go out of the starter zones, there isn't a lot to kill.

I spent several hours looking for the leather working trainer. I went all the way to willow brook looking for the damn thing. I found it finally. I hate fog.

2 things i would like to see. Graphic options. Save your login passwords so you don't have to enter them everytime, like EQ.

This test had a lot more people. about 10 times I say. 2 servers.

Even though the Halfling Rangers start off with limited crafting trainers, I think it was still the best place to be this test. There was no lag and not much of a crowd, really, when compared to my one visit to the Human area, which was stripped clear of mobs and chugging hard due to all the people.

I spent most of my time doing tradeskills, exploring, and mucking about with double boxing; with 90% of the weekend sitting at level 4. I think I covered almost all of the new areas, even if they weren't populated yet.

My goal in tradeskills was to make the best chain and weapons for my ranger (all bronze), but came up short because I couldn't poopsock (as much as I wanted). Near the end of my playtime I also stopped to farm the vials of magic to make my boxed shaman a set of the magic chain, which got the ranger up to 7, but also would have added a additional 106 copper bars to my mats list.
