As a guy who played MC with buddies back when it was released and did modded MC and played MC with my kids, I dunno, the art style is just good (I get you are talking about faces, but man take a look at hytale, thats some WEW faces right there) and I'd place it in the same vein as the comments about WoW being "cartoony", they are using an engine capable of up-scaling this if they go that route in the future ( totally look forward to whatever april fools prank comes down the line, doing like "Real faces" update for april fools or something ).
The stuff they made just looks amazing.

This is patently false and I really don't see how people can even think this. MNM is not attempting to copy EQ graphics, they have their own style it's called "Fuzzy Troll", napkin art by talentless hacks. Some people dislike the Minecraft style graphics, but the same people like MnM's graphics which I think are more of an abomination. EQ's graphics for 1999 were cutting edge for an online game. MnM copies the graphics to appeal to those rose-colored glasses, but in reality they should probably have something more modern even if not cutting-edge.

I'm hoping hey can convey status/rarity on visible equipment without leaning on too many particle effects. It's gonna be tough with the level of detail available to them, but it can for sure be done.
Even that lantern in the above screenshot looks great though, so I think they're on the right track.
EnigmaFactory Had a question about the pillar system (the one where undead mobs spawn around a pillar or ruin). Had a few bosses spawn with no loot at a location in the mountains near osgul. I assumed the system is early days, but did yall want bugreports on that stuff? I thought it was a great option for "I don't wanna go into a dungeon but I wanna XP solo / with a group."

i really meant that in general , the voxel art style doesn't look great. like i see my kid (in developer mode) on minecraft fly over a villiage and it looks goofy and clunky. the cliff edges are jagged and weird. walking through the forrest is a chore because of the weird step up/down.As a guy who played MC with buddies back when it was released and did modded MC and played MC with my kids, I dunno, the art style is just good (I get you are talking about faces, .
It’s even worse than just a lack of talent (you get what you pay for, after all). The typical indie game faces almost no criticism from its insular fanbase, on the contrary they’re constantly heaping praise on any and all dev efforts. Over time this tends to convince people who don’t realize their shit stinks in the first place that it smells like flowers instead. This is patently false and I really don't see how people can even think this. Everquest graphics are leaps and bounds above MNM, and you have to be blind to think otherwise:
This is the player goblin model, which is one of the "best" (according to fans) MNM models (Apr 2026):

They are both "low poly" but one was designed by a professional artist who was paid for his work and the other looks like kids fingerpainting View attachment 624018
Even I, who lacks a single artistic bone in my body (Anyone's who's seen some of my meme's i make in MS paint can vouch for this), can draw better character models than MNM.
Even the ultra low poly goblins from vanilla are better than MNM

I would post more pics of MNM models but the 7 whole fans that they have don't post on the internet, that's the only one I could find and I had to snip that from a youtube video
