Looking back, I don't think 2012 was a particularly strong year for new music.

The album I listened to and enjoyed most is probably Divine Fits. Channel Orange has some good tunes, but I don't love it end-to-end.

Mrs. Magician - Strange Heaven

Honorable mentions for me:
My Best Friend - In Ghostlike Fading
Porcelain Raft - Strange Weekend
Beach House - Bloom
Black Moth Super Rainbow - Cobra Juicy
Dirty Projectors - Swing Lo Magellan
Chromatics - Kill for Love
Crystal Castles - (III)

I was actually going to make this very thread in a week. I will still post my favorite 20-30 albums from this year then. I doubt I ever make a list of 100+ again

Not sure which of these I'll say is my favorite over another, but these three were tops for me:

Jack White - Blunderbuss
Punch Brothers - Who's Feeling Young Now?
White Rabbits - Milk Famous

I could be forgetting some records but I feel like not too much has really grabbed me this year. At least there was nothing that I rocked most days for a period of weeks. With that said, on to the stuff I did dig.

Recently I've been enjoying Luxury Problems by Andy Stott (laptop/shitty speakers won't play it as intended). I'll go ahead and second some jams that others have mentioned: Converge, Frank Ocean.

Oh shit, Burial's Kindred EP came out this year. Ashtray Wasp is one of my favorite songs in a while. And Joey Bada$$'s 1999 mixtape is dope.

/edit I forgot the TNGHT EP.

I've really been out of the music loop this year in comparison to other years. Anyhow, I still venture outside my cave a few times:

Purity Ring - Shrines. Cocaine in an album. I'm sure there's better albums this year from a talent/art/critic perspective. The songs all sound very similar and it's only 38 minutes long, but even as a Waffles Power User+, I don't think I've ever heard an album half as catchy as this.

Other albums I enjoyed a great deal:
Twin Shadow - Confess
Beach House - Bloom
Grimes - Visions
Hot Chip - In Our Heads

I like where your head's at. Other top ones for me include:
Lord Huron - Lonesome Dreams (holy fuck so good)
Freelance Whales - Diluvia (a bit of a change, but a fun album for sure)
The Royal Concept - The Royal Concept EP (cheating since it's just an EP, but I love their sound although it's quite similar to Phoenix)
Yeasayer - Fragrant World (part of the reason for this is the cool way in which they "leaked" the entire album via the scavenger hunt. The album itself is great in my opinion)

I'm sure I'll think of some more.
