1/2 through episode one. Sweet Jesus this is fucking good

edit. Im saving hte second episode for tomorrow. This lived up to the hype. I'll be curious how people feel about how it was filmed, its very Noah Hawley from Legion in that regard, but grounded instead of leaning into the bizarre. Treats the audience as knowing what stuff is so there is almost zero setup and plays off the tropes of the Alien universe instead of re -imagining them. Paced like the original Alien, so talkey Sci-Fi but the budget was obvious everything looks amazing.

Alien itself looked and acted (its a dude in a suit) A+

How's the writing? Any Marvel-ness? Do the Xenomorphs fly now?

Will definitely get Hulu for a month to watch this, once all the episodes are out.

This is way better than any recent Alien movie so far. It's much more a sci horror feel ala Alien.

I think it will also be on Disney + but not sure.

Overall it's an improvement, but there are still straight up Prometheus moments with people doing the dumbest things. Also the weaponry they have as a prequel era series? Bro space marines were not given the cool toys back in 'Aliens.'

The first episode was great. Just the first 15 minutes or whatever on the Maginot were enough to get me drawn in to everything. It has a certain amount of "noah hawley"-ness to it, but it isn't like you're rewatching Legion or being beaten over the head. Just solid so far.

I honestly didn't keep up too much with this to limit my spoilers or disappointment. Had no idea Timothy Olyphant was even in it and kind of did a double take when he popped up.
Want to do Episode 2 but need to head to bed.

Pretty solid start. As other mentioned, some Prometheus moments but they leaned hard into the sci fi horror. Holy shit the first 10-15 minutes had the Alien 1 vibes going heavy.

The first episode is decent. I like the mystery of the other specimens more than the xenomorph. All of the synths act well, the new hybrids being kids is also done well. The first scene on the alien starts dumb as fuck with the slow head profile that seemsto defy physics moving backwards, but I thought it actually looked good in every scene after that.

My only issue is that you can tell that it was made over the last 3 years so the cast is perfectly fucking diverse. Which means no white man is going to be strong or heroic.

I think the best praise I can give it is that it didn't feel cringy and I want to immediately watch the next one.
