When does this take place?

Weyland-Yutani is a thing (as opposed to it just being Weyland Corp in Prometheus) but also Yutani is one of the characters (the founder, or maybe her daughter?) so I doubt it's that far into the future if she's alive and well. Where is it in relation to Alien 1?

2120, Alien is 2122. The Nostromo left Earth in 2120. Part of me thinks the Nostromo gets redirected to LV 426 on the way home since they lose all their samples in this show.

Hawley flat out said he was ignoring Prometheus and Covenant cause they fucked up any hope of a timelime.

I think it's supposed to be a couple decades before Alien 1, potentially after the ship left earth though so they would have no knowledge of what happens in this show. It actually has the potential to clear things up for 1 & 2 as to why/how Ash and Bishop had prime directives to preserve the alien. Although I guess that was SOP since Morrow had the same programming.

Clearly the alien has inconsistent power levels and hunting techniques. I've always chalked it up to a mix of respect for a skilled enemy (similar to how the predator is portrayed) and some instinctual recognition of a good host. It toyed with Ripley in the first movies because it wanted her specifically as a host, and later knew it was a host. Similarly it "picked" the brother as a potential host and didn't insta-gib him and instead glued him to the wall.

It's not a perfect explanation but works for me given all the other oddities we're supposed to accept in any science fiction alien life form story.

I don't know too much about alien lore but aren't they like ants where there are workers and soldiers? The soldiers being taller, stronger, and more heavily armored? This one certainly seems bigger than the one in alien.

Basically. Apparently queens send out a telepathic link to the colony, but even some humans are susceptible to it. This is all comic stuff, and it's been years since I've read them but if I remember you got alien cults and shit happening.

Think it's drones or warriors for humans. Praetorians are there in the comics, and they were just there to guard the queen but I don't know what they birth from, I think it was an egg, and that was from the earth wars series.

Then the offshoots like the runner from the third film. The comics had other ones based on whatever life form the alien impregnated. The colonial Marines series had had some crazy fish or walrus version when they were on a water planet. The Batman versus alien comic had a giant crocodile alien! You even had the predator alien which I think that predators labeled an abomination.

I could be wrong on some of this, but that's what I'm currently recalling.

That is how they were presented in Aliens and that has sort of stuck since then.

Aliens have always had super strength compared to a human. In Aliens you can see them bashing bulkheads in, or forcing open the armored carrier's door. The runner in Alien 3 is able to crush a man's head with its hands, and could propel itself out of what looked like tonnes of molten lead several meters up.

The design of the one we have seen so far in Alien Earth looks like one of the xenomorph warriors in Aliens (in Aliens we mostly see warriors, and just a couple of drones near the queen at the end).

The show is running with the idea that the aliens have a sort of collective hivemind / telepathic link of sorts, it looks like the eggs (or the facehuggers inside them at least, but we also know from the lore that the eggs themselves are living organisms) are communicating and alerting the xenomorph to the presence of intruders, probably because they were in the process of being moved to strategic locations to ambush more hosts and create more xenomorpphs. Then there is another loud telepathic call at the end of the episode when one of the facehuggers is getting vivisected.

As I recall, the telepathic link was created by a queen in the comics/books, so there might be a queen somewhere... didn't we see two bodies with bursted chests in the cryopods in the Weyland-Yutani ship? If so, there's still another xenomorph at large, and it could be a queen we haven't seen yet.

I hope the show reintroduces one of the elements only visible in the "assembly cut" of Alien 3, the royal facehugger. It looks like a larger, more badass facehugger with darker skin, like the poison headcrabs in Half-Life 2 (man fuck those things), webbing, and a sharp stinger on its tail, and is capable of impregnating two hosts, one with a queen embryo and one with a guardian for the queen (the runner in Alien 3, implanted into an ox or a dog depending on the version you watched).

Here's a picture from the creatures workshop of Alien 3, but you can also see actual footage of it in the assembly cut :

Why does the Alien in the first Alien know to hide in the escape pod when it would have no knowledge of a self destruct sequence. Also while it is on there does it not immediately kill Ripley? Is it suddenly just smart now and knew the thing it was in was a ship and needed a pilot? Thats weird. If that's the case why did the one that took down the ship in Aliens just not wait for it to land so it didnt kill itself?

They are monsters that will do whatever the plot requires them to do. For whatever reason that's no longer allowed and everything must have intricate knowledge of everything regardless of what it is. Hell the Alien isnt really important in the context of the show, we are getting more of them, and it will be fun watching everyone on the Neverland island get killed in different ways

This franchise has not been consistant from one move to another from one spinoff to another from one game or comic or whatever to another. They are a fun movie monster but nitpicking or taking them too seriously isnt really the point of them or the show.

since we are getting into the motivations of an alien and we already have mind manipulations and out of body science maybe they will finally show that what an alien comes from it retains parts of the hosts mind but the hive mind wins out and under its control

What if they did the mind transfer thing to a kid embedded with a chest buster and it copies both minds into the synth?

Hoenstly I dont think its even telepathy and they just produce sounds that are on a higher frequency that normal humans cannot hear and that's how they can communicate. If thats the case it would be high pitched and would cause the distress Wendy is experiencing since her audio receptors would have received a major upgrade or are malfunctioning. Like a dog whistle.

So if the facehuggers are in distress like that it can call to the Aliens around to come ASAP but there are not any others yet. Or the clicking she heard from the Alien was it trying to communicate with a pack that doesnt exist.

Could be, and maybe that's why she's able to manipulate electronic feeds. Maybe they changed it for the show to be some sort of frequency deal, but why aren't any of the other kids experiencing it?

Runnen Runnen is right though about the telepathy stuff from the comics, so it could still be that angle.

Pretty sure it's hive mind/telepathy if I remember anything from starcraft 1 and Sarah Kerrigan.

I think your idea about transferring the mind of a kid with a alien impregnated in them would have actually been pretty good, but that's obviously not the case because they didn't know what the hell the alien was and the last episode, but that could have worked.

I still think it's going to be telepathy or something, but it could just be a weird signal. Maybe that's why Morrow was able to patch into the Indian kid at the end of the last episode once he realized he was a synthetic.

I thought it was sound based too, but I guess it could be psychic with the mind transfers and her ability to manipulate technology. She also could just have wifi.

Also I think the tadpole they put in the lung will make a queen.

The borg planted a communication device on the kid. You can see when he touches his neck.

Ahhh, you're probably right with the communication device. I just thought maybe it was his skin healing or something.

Hopefully they ignore all alien timelines and just come up with some wild troll like the aliens demanding amnesty, then just killing everyone.

Looks like they're angling at Hirsh using the Xenomorph's to erase humanity angle.

I'm guessing Prodigy gets wiped out, or at least Kavalier, which restores the "4 companies" timeline Alien had.

I was waiting for Raylan to take out the Prodigy kid. I was actually kind of surprised he warned him about the facehugger.
