Oathbringer? The end was really really good, but the pacing suffered quite a bit in the rest of the book.Oathbreaker is one of the best fantasy books ever written imo.

Kaladin becoming a mental health healer is a weird place to go with his character, but I have some faith it will be for something cool/important.Sanderson’s work has some fantastically epic endings. Seriously awesome stuff at the end of each of the books.
Getting there has been the problem in the last couple books. I appreciate how ambitious Sanderson is with his vision of the Cosmere and the story he wants to tell. He builds unique worlds and magic systems that make sense and work. The story is compelling and I’m quite invested in the outcomes for Roshar and the cosmere in general. I’ll keep reading, for sure.
All that said, I really hate the way he’s shoehorning all these social issues into his work. Mental issues, multiple personality disorder, gay/trans shit, etc. Shallan in particular has been hard to stomach the last book or two. Kaladin is wearing on me, too.
That’s the main thing that made me give up on the series.Kaladin becoming a mental health healer is a weird place to go with his character, but I have some faith it will be for something cool/important.

Hasn’t this been picked up a few times before already?I hope apple TV doesn't cock up the cosmere like Amazon did with the wheel of time. I'm hopeful it will be a faithful adaptation.

Brandon Sanderson’s Literary Fantasy Universe ‘Cosmere’ Picked Up by Apple TV (Exclusive)
It's an unprecedented deal for the author, whose 'Mistborn' series and 'The Stormlight Archive' are being eyed for film and television adaptation, respectively.www.hollywoodreporter.com

If I remember right some company bought the entire rights to the Cosmere but didn't do anything with them.Hasn’t this been picked up a few times before already?
On the plus side, they won’t have to gay it up. Sanderson did a great job of that already
Sanderson was already irritated by Amazon's involvement in Wheel of Time when he signed on as Writer / Consultant. Hopefully he used that experience to leverage Apple for more creative control or input. I say hopefully, but that could also prove to be an issue.

Sanderson strikes me as a writer with much more bandwidth to do the, ya know, actual work than fat George did with GoT.

Hey, all! News has broken. Rather than post on all the threads, I figured I would do a new post here with some info and thoughts.
In May I flew to Hollywood to start looking for a new partner on the Cosmere. This is something I've done before, but this time it was different. I'd been off the market for many years, working with Epic and my friends there.
That means this was my first time being in Hollywood with my Cosmere rights since...oh, 2016?
This time, I got to meet the real decision makers. Not just producers or low level executives. And this led to some really tough choices. I got the red carpet treatment, and liked everyone I met.
The decision to pick Apple was due to two factors. First, the level of approvals and control. Apple wants to be a true partner with me, and they feel like they really get what I want to do. Second, their track record. Apple does fewer things, but with higher quality, than some other studios. I find virtually every thing of theirs I watch is excellent and creator driven.
Join me for a livestream on Friday, probably 6pm mountain. I'll talk more then. But I will be writing the Mistborn screenplay myself over the next 5 months, as my full time work. Goal is for a theatrical Mistborn, then Stormlight show after. Focus on doing it carefully and right.
I promise not to get too distracted to do books. However, if I want this done right, I need to give some real attention and heart to it now.
Brandon
Shit, he already has done that himself. Have you read the last few Stormlights?I hope apple TV doesn't cock up the cosmere like Amazon did with the wheel of time. I'm hopeful it will be a faithful adaptation.
