I never understood the hate for The Island. Good, mindless fun. McGregor is one of my favorite actors and ScarJo was an absolute SMOKESHOW back then.

Do these people spend so much money they're stuck on the hamster wheel until the end of time? Or are they just enslaved to these studios? What could possibly be his motivation to keep making crappy movies?

i think Armageddon was the only Bay movie i liked. i thought there would be more, nah, its a good film. maybe because it was produced by Jerry Bruckheimer.

Classic Bay from top to bottom-- but reviewers have it as one of the weaker Bay movies.

The characters are paper thin and you don't care about anyones name, neither does Michael Bay, there's a sort of meta humor to this movie you can pick up on by Act 2. Midway through it becomes glaring that everything is just an excuse to set up a few key scenes Bay wanted to shoot. And I was ALL IN for it, after some initial reluctance at how stupid the plot was and the plot armor (won't spoil), by the end of the movie I was OK with it.

This movie managed to heat up in the 3rd act. Classic Bay chaos and stupidity.

Its definitely a Michael bay film but

Maybe the only Bay film that didn't have a feel good ending

I fucking loved that movie. And yes, that was literally peak hotness for ScarJo. So you had super-hot ScarJo, McGregor playing a really likeable protagonist, and Sean Bean dies at the end. What's not to like about this movie?

I really hope you are right. I'm half way though and ready to quit.

enjoyed it, nothing amazing and definitely not worth a trip out to theaters but it was 100% cliche Michael Bay - I started laughing when he made the LAPD look like the fucking US Military deploying into Iraq - all the usual Bay shit of military porn, jargon up the ass, giant spec op teams deploying into a warzone, wide shots of concrete landscape as the sun goes down, helicopters doing crazy shit, and a GTA vibe the whole time. In fact I'm 95% sure the last third of the movie took place literally in the main car shop area of GTA 5, I think Las Santos Imports or whatever its called.

the smoking hot mexican (?) chick playing the heroic EMT is worth it alone, I've seen her in a few shit movies now and she is definitely the best part of them all. Jake Gyllenvalalalla is great here, he knows he is in a stupid movie and hams it completely up. Its too bad they couldn't get Danny Trejo to be the out-of-nowhere Scary Mexican Gangster(tm), he woulda added a little more. This is a run of the mill "goddamn this is getting stupid" action movie but it flies by and never gets boring, which is a lot more than I can say for most action movies nowadays.

movie has an awesome dog, dog does not get hurt don't worry

I was going to ask why not include The Rock in your list based of these credentials... Then I remembered the history of your opinions on movies.

The Rock is by far the best Michael Bay movie. If you think otherwise then you're too dumb to have opinions
