This came up on my feed, i didn't appreciate this was a single, very long shot when i watched it. I wonder how many other long shots there are that i didn't notice, especially in some of the areas with incredible set design.

is it expressly stated as one shot somewhere?

theres a few points where it could be a seemless cut.
This pan sweep for example. would have been an obvious place to splice. right on the doorline.

I didn't see the show producers talk about it, no. Yeah these days any tracking shot like this can be spliced without the viewer knowing it.

I thought this clip was interesting:

One of the constant complaints I have of the Mandoverse shows, even the episodes I like, is that they are disjointed. They seem to connect one storyboard to the next with incomprehensible plotlines and character decisions. I don't really understand the Volume or LED talked about in this, but his point about the amount of preproduction work is insightful. Shooting with practical effects with the full cast of actors on set and trying things out in costume enables the team to adapt the script to what makes sense and flesh out the story in a way that flows well. Locking a bunch of actors in a room filming incomprehensible nonsense and then smashing it together is a polar opposite

24 episodes totalling 16 hours 10 minutes or $29m/episode or $44m/hour, which is pretty good imo. Acolyte was also $29m/episode and Rings of Power is like $60m/episode lol

i haven't rewatched the entire show since i watched season 2 but this is 100% one of those shows I'll rewatch every few years, its peak greatness up there with The Wire, Rome, TNG, Babylon 5, Deadwood, etc.

Huge expense for shows no one watches.
