It's basically going the way that early Internet Explorer went, using a bunch of unique browser properties that no other browser supports and aren't standard. Apple also stubbornly refuses to add service workers, which means web apps can't support things like offline content or notifications.
Ah gotcha. I still use it because of some of the Apple services like Apple Pay (don’t even know if chrome supports this. Would not be surprised if they do) and based on my super scientific feelsdats I get better battery using it.

But honestly it’s 99.9% because I used it exclusively during my tenure at Apple.
